Faces of Death
I’m very surprised of how much I ended up liking this!! I didn’t bother watching the original and I would have 100% but animal deaths aren’t my thing especially if it’s gore (I’ll get around to it one day). I only watched the trailer once and looked at bts stuff that’s all. And I of course knew a lot about the original just only from those ‘disturbing horror movies’ iceberg videos I watched and the infamous monkey scene before. I thought that this movie was going to maybe be as gross as the og (like maybe Terrifier type gore) which I probably would have liked since it is someone re-enacting kills from that movie but I was pretty satisfied of the final result and I think many people who didn’t like of how excessive the original was would enjoy this as well. It’s very much one of those films that someone can watch if they want to get into disturbing horror. People like Arthur who hurt people whether it would be physical or emotional for content would get a turn on by the attention they get that makes them want to do more sorta Luka Magnotta with the whole ‘don’t fuck with cats’ thing that Margot did which i loved btw. Even though Arthur made fun of Sam complaining about being ‘too famous’ that news report scene was enough for me to know he definitely loves the attention. And that ending I loved very much because Arthur laughing meant that he knew that he won and loved it. No matter what there will be people still on his side whether it would be fake or not which is terrifying because there are people like that online that I’ve seen many many times and it’s so upsetting. And it being mainly ‘TikTok’ is tooo realistic because for some odd reason they love that type of shit on there. I would 100% want to rewatch this again soon there’s so much more I want to say but I think I’ll wait until it hits digital.

The Drama
I decided to go into this movie sorta blind with just only knowing that something happened before getting married and it was going to ruin their wedding but before I kinda didn’t care much for this movie as well I don’t know it just didn’t catch my eye that much and was going to wait until it came out in digital until when the reviews came out and saw that everyone enjoyed it I was like fuck it I’ll go watch it especially since I’m not that great going out of my way to the theaters and watching new releases and I would take a while to get around to it so I’m very happy I enjoyed this. The scene that I was waiting on the most was of course the big secret that was being kept and when it came to Emma I thought she was just going to confess that she cheated but when she said that she planned a school shooting was definitely the last thing I had ever expected and probably one of the most craziest confessions I’ve heard from a movie especially since it was from the woman not the man like in the scene where young Emma said that it’s not always men women would do it too. I’m very glad that they didn’t go through the cheating route where that was Emma’s confession because that would’ve been way too predictable and lazy to do so im sorta glad that they went to the planned school shooting route? Idk I just sorta thought that there was a secret baby or one of them used to do drug dealing but I guess that wasn’t crazy enough. in most movies and shows that I’ve seen where they touch onto the subject of school shooting they always made fun of the shooter because the excuse they’d give was them being bullied and trying to look edgy in photos like how young Emma was just flipping off at the sky, statue, some random building and her doing the confession tape was just fucking funny to me I couldn’t stop laughing. I just sorta wish that they could’ve taken the subject a bit more serious cause it’s literally a crazy fucking thing that the love of your life confessed to almost killing a bunch of people like I also wouldn’t even know what I would do as well but if Rachel wasn’t there I don’t think Charlie would have freaked out as much it’s just the people around them who heard were making him more anxious and he was forgiving her but Rachel fucked it up again like girl you put that child that you shoved into a closet and let him stay over night more at risk than Emma did. Anyway, they did the dark comedy very well in this I don’t think I’ve seen any new ones in a while where every joke made me laugh. Zendaya and Robert did such an amazing job together they were very funny i loved the photography and confronting to the DJ scenes very much.

The Lords of Salem
Every time I watch a rob zombie film I don’t even know what goes on half of the time but still end up enjoying it. I liked this a lot

When this released I’ve tried watching it like 3 times but for some reason it kept buffering in the very beginning but i finally got around to it again and this is just so beautiful!!!! Just an amazing watch with great characters and music. I really hate that this never got a proper theatrical release this movie deserves so much more attention. Definitely now one of my favorite Pixar films

After 2022 I have slowly stopped watching any new Disney/Pixar films because most of them seemed very uninteresting to me or seem like slop (with the live actions and sequels they keep releasing) even though I claim to myself to be such a big fan of the company in whole I can just admit that they need to stop doing whatever the hell they’re doing right now. I was never interested in watching this movie but I felt very bad that it got a pretty poor response from the box office because Disney decided not to market/advertise this much even though this is one of the only original films that they (Pixar) have made in a while with again only there being sequels and live actions. The only reason why I wanted to watch it though is for the upcoming Oscars and I was very surprised this got nominated but yknow how Disney is. I once saw a tweet of someone defending this movie and how they’re confused why it’s getting poor responses after a tweet about it getting bombed at the box office and someone replied saying “we do want original movies but nothing like this” and I just want to say this that I personally don’t think that this movie is terrible obviously I enjoyed it. I thought it was very cute but I do think that this movie shouldn’t have gotten a theatrical release almost felt like it should’ve went straight to streaming instead. Disney does know that their sequels do a lot better than their original films now (live actions as well sorta) and that’s why they keep making them and don’t even bother to market it because they’re waiting for them to start advertising Zootopia 2 and releasing teasers for the Moana live action a movie that’s only 10 years old. And that’s what they’re doing with Pixar as well, not making live action’s thank god but continuing sequels. Just don’t be shocked when Toy Story 5 makes 10x more than Hoppers.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple
I can very much say I enjoyed it I really do love that they focus on the humans in this movie because when it comes to a zombie franchise there comes to a point where the zombies aren’t important anymore it’s really the humans that are the danger. Fight the dead Fear the living. And that’s something Spike is realizing especially in the beginning when he accidentally killed Jimmy Shite and nobody was helping him when he was bleeding ti death that maybe he shouldn’t have left the village or joined their group. I do think that there is something missing whenever it came to the whole religion thing I can’t exactly describe it but I do feel like how they played it out it wasn’t really that terrifying to me besides the Jimmys skinning people, it was just more weird I guess idk maybe that’s where they were heading with them. Again I’m not sure but there is something missing I think other people can agree. I would say that from the barn scene they remind me of Charles Manson and his cult. More into the religion aspect there’s something so interesting when it comes to that in zombie horror of characters always blaming God or Christians saying that this is God’s punishment but I’ve never really seen someone use satanism like when it comes to villains in zombie horror they would atheists, Christians, or think they are God or Satan like how Sir Lord said he is Satan himself after exposing Dr. Kelson and he did kinda remind me of Otis from House of 1000/Devil’s Rejects “I am the Devil, and I am here to do the Devil’s work” but again how he was executed he was kinda more of just Jimmy from Scary Godmother. The whole thing of Samson and Dr. Kelson was interesting to me especially whenever a human would have a random connection to a zombie whether they knew them or not like if you had a family member, friend, or a partner and they became infected and turn you wouldn’t kill them you would keep them like in The Walking Dead (show and game), #Alive, Frakenhooker (not really but yknow). Or in other cases where you almost see the same one everyday, name them, and never hurt them you get attached and in Dr. Kelson’s case he’s alone so it’s not surprising that he would have a connection with Samson who is an Alpha and can kill Kelson at any second but chooses not to because Kelson has helped him almost become human even tho he did die at the end he at least got to see his little experiment worked and maybe people will find his work and try to do the treatment and maybe find a cure since they still haven’t addressed it yet. Overall I am happy of how this turned out, there were some scenes where this movie was a 4/5 but that The Number of the Beast scene…… was fucking magnificent. Probably the best scene out of the entire movie. I do think that the first 28 Years was better but again happy that this was good. And there was a certain someone that was missing at the end and I hope she comes back in the next movie.

Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire
DVD that has been collecting dust on my shelf #8 I knew this movie for a while already and of course it would be from TikTok and the line of Mary saying “since you got your degree you know every fucking thing?” and I of course that it was funny at the time not knowing the full context of it and now watching this movie it is not funny at all. This movie is not funny, there are some moments where it does make you smile but it doesn’t last long. I never understood why people would take scenes from this movie and make them to a meme and it would be the scenes where Mary was being abusive to Precious just for existing and for doing the littlest thing, it’s just fucked up. I picked up the DVD about a year ago because I did really wanted to watch it and couldn’t really find it anywhere on streaming for free to watch, I knew some things that happened in this movie but now after watching this I am in shock. There are so many things I want to talk about but for I just want to talk about how I almost cried to the scene where Precious told Ms. Rain that she got tested positive for HIV and that love has never done anything to her but beat her, rape her, called her many terrible things but Ms. Rain tells her that there are people that love her like her baby and the people that she has met while being in that school like Ms. Rain herself. In this whole movie Precious realizes people that she barely knows or hangs out with care about her more than her own mother does just broke me. Gabourey Sidibe is such an underrated actress, loved her so much in American Horror Story and. Would just love to see her in bigger projects in the future.

Black Swan
God it’s been so long since my last rewatch of this movie, almost 2 years and it is still perfection. Almost every moment. During last semester of my film class on this assignment it was about horror and there was a question about which subgenre of horror can be most effective or impactful for you? Slasher, Psychological, Supernatural, etc and I picked psychological and I used this movie as an example. I talked about that when I first watched the movie I cried and was afraid at the end for Nina after finding out that she didn’t kill Lily and I went on about how you feel like you’re in the protagonist’s mind where you’re talking to someone thinking that they’re real when it’s actually the thing that is possessing you whether it would be a ghost, demon, entity, or yourself and when you think it’s not messing with you and it turns out it is you feel the same way the character does confused, angry, upset, sad, and scared. I also used it sorta in my psychology class and it was just about anxiety and paranoia that someone can go through when they are in a lot of pressure of something and also used it for someone wanting to impress people by trying to be perfect. I think that we all had a point in our lives where we try to be perfect for something or someone that is very important for you that you would take risks that would end up bad for everyone and for you but some people it turns out to be amazing and you see that in Nina, she dies at the end. She was happy that her performance was perfection, that people were cheering for her, everyone around her were so happy and she does with a smile. Nina died happy knowing that what she’s done was perfect, she was perfect.
