Tiger on the Beat

Look I don't want to attack anyone but I think the average letterboxd user who has la la land, the perks of being a wallflower, interstellar and dead poets society and tries to watch a bad movie in order to make the rating graphs more "serious" would probably hate this film just because of how cheesy, like it has the worst dubbing for those white guys especially the white boy who was checking the surf board. Huge love cause how this film easily tackles the comedy, romance and the action and the action ISNT EVEN THE BEST PART!! Chow Yun Fat is a womanizer, chainsaw fight fucks so hard. Should probably see Lethal Weapon now but I don't think it will be this good where both of the characters are not wearing pants just to save 2 hostages. also why did the beat up Nina Li Chi so hard??? The part where Chow drinks 6 raw eggs and he was taught by Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Alain Delon then to Stallone. It's SO 80's and the fact that it's canon where Chow's character has posters and love Madonna's True Blue, the Rocky film, Cobra (need to watch that, my dad's begging me to watch it) and Brooke Shields. The score is just so cheesy and reminds me a lot of Tangerine Dream. Shotgun on a rope cool as fuck, those white guys were definitely casted from a brothel or something, they look like they came out from bands like Wang Chung, Duran Duran.

Déjà Vu

HOWW?? real movie watching hours. Tony Scott putting 2 of the greatest actors in one frame is so GANGSTER, like Denzel and Val Kilmer omg bro. Love, post-surveillance, post 9/11. It's like Minority Report and Tenet but this one is just incredibly moving to me. Has one of the most defining images of the 21st century, hell this is the movie OF THE 21ST CENTURY!!! Car chase scene with goggle rig is the greatest thing ever.

Michael

Starting the month with Michael is definitely a choice. Watched with my mom in IMAX and for some reason she cried LOLL poor her. Frustrating movie, severe case of bad editing especially in the Billie Jean scene, like I’m no director but if I was Antoine I would do that scene shot for shot of the actual performance because that was so badly edited, if they had the balls, they should’ve just make it 5 minutes like the actual performance. There’s nothing unique, feels like every musical biopic (except Better Man, love that film) Feels like it’s adapted from wikipedia and has hype aura moments. Lack of depth which was so strange even MJ was like the best strange person around. I’ll stop dragging this movie down, it’s time for the positives. Jaafar looks so much like Mike, he’s very good in this. Miles got a big laugh from the audience and it’s nice that we became a little community. Doing the Leo pointing meme when they mentioned Springsteen, Beach Boys, Dylan and Lauper. The music goes so hard with the IMAX speakers especially Human Nature and Workin’ Day and Night (best scene of the film) Also why did they just used the instrumental of I Can’t Help It??? Thriller music video cool and a John Landis cameo. No Scorsese cameo :( Antoine kind of lacked the juice in this movie. Also the movie looks good. Oh yeah they didn’t address it Just go watch Better Man (2024)

Brutally honest film, it's very obvious that this is just about Fellini's life and it's great that he doesn't do it subtly. I'll be honest I was very sleepy in the first 20 or so minutes (even though the first 3 minutes were PEAK) but something just clicked and I was tapped in after that. Crazy visuals, it's so obvious how Lynch was so influenced by this. Fellini making everyone hot is beast mode i'm afraid. Floored by it

O Brother, Where Art Thou?

damn, we're in a tight spot! So Yellow. Clooney's, Turturro's and Nelson's best. Goodman and Stephen Root rocks, great folk music. Genuinely my first impression of The Odyssey so yeah all of this probably happens in the book. I like Tommy Johnson's character and also being a homage to Robert Johnson who sold his soul to devil which turned this film up since I was pretty obsessed with the folklore when I was a kid. Takes place in the same universe as Sinners.
