Infernal Affairs
A remake of The Departed but Hong Kong and it's kind of better(?) I DONT KNOW both perfect to me. This feels so fast than The Departed (okay the departed is not slow for me but IA feels like 10 minutes LOL while Departed feels like 45 minutes if that makes sense) The score is so GOOD. Andy Lau and Tony Leung are incredible. Standing ovation whenever Anthony Wong shows up. IA to me feels subtle and much more chill I would say while for The Departed feels LOUDER and much more violent but to me both movies are incomparable

Dick Tracy
The concept of watching this movie in order to complete Madonna's discography and listen to I'm Breathless. I broke my streak with Asian films but this was worth it. Looks and feels so good. If a director made a movie that looks like they would get killed in the way of Wahlberg shooting Damon in The Departed. CBMs should look like this again and don't tell me that SUPERMAN (2025) is a good looking film IT'S NOT. Pacino over the top, Dustin Hoffman unhinged, Madonna was surprisingly good, everyone look's so fucked up. Probably the only movie I'm gonna watch from Madonna's filmography for now, I skipped Who's That Girl. Oh yeah True Blue is her best so far in her discography

Oldboy
man that's kinda fucked up. They imprisoned him for 15 years. Imagine how much fried rice you can eat!! I would go insane if I was him.

Golgo 13
The Coolest Guy Ever: The Movie. Ken Takukara fully speaking Japanese while everyone is dubbed LMFAOO. First half slow af but the second and third pulled me back in, just for it's action, landscape and sets. Don't have a lot to say about this film but it has a cool default poster

Rumble in the Bronx
Copied from my letterboxd and also to fill my profile a little bit since the import datas are not working Watched with the English dub and it's legendary, I'm sure there's a original Cantonese version out there but the goofy English dub of the 90's are elite. For 90 minute runtime, this feels like a fever dream. Bronx in Vancouver apparently LMFAOOOO, if NYC was actually COOL and has a coastal plus a mountainside. Look you can call me a fake cinephile for watching this on the dub version but who gives a shit LOLL The dub feels so stupid and the dialogue/script is something that I would write in school for a drama script so yeah this whole film is right up my alley. Anita Mui gorgeous, need more of Uncle Bill

Full Contact
oh so it's the coolest movie ever where it has the best score with sick guitar riffs, shot in Bangkok, beautiful reds and blues and peak hyper-violence. The score fucks so hard it's actually insane. The 80's cheesiness is the cherry on top, very hateful at times but I don't think Ringo gives a fuck. Big Dick Energy the Movie. Sucks the score is not available online :(

Peking Opera Blues
For the whole runtime I can't focus anything other than Brigitte Lin. Bold, thrilling and hilarious. All the actors are so charming, the action is creative but Tsui Hark most impressive thing is that he GETS it when it comes to gender roles/barriers. The action is so cool for using unconventional(?) weapons like rifles and mausers. Oh yeah the subtitles I downloaded are awful.

Godzilla Minus One
real fucking movie. Riveting, don't know why I put this off 3 years ago?? Compelling story, harrowing. Godzilla's sense of scale is so visceral and downright scary at times. Can't wait what Takashi Yamazaki does in the sequel.

In the Mood for Love
Watched on the 4k bluray, i don't know if I like the green taint. yeah still my favorite movie ever. Means a lot to me. Literally hits all the spots in this rewatch emotionally. If this movie was a song, it would be a Sade song, specifically "Is It a Crime".

Lady Snowblood
Once you've watched Lady Snowblood, you never want to stop beating Quentin Tarantino to death. I liked the blood fountains.

Ran
"What a sky!" Staggering, large, big-scope. There are times where this films kind of drags for me but my god that set-piece in the first hour of the film, the fields and at the end HOLY FAWK. The battle in the first hour fucks so hard cause of the lack of sound and just only music, it feels like a silent film just with the colors and it’s amazing. Tatsuya is coked up in this one. The remastered looks tremendous. I would definitely appreciate the pacing more in my next rewatch and also write something better but lot’s to think about this film!! Lady Kaede #divadown

Chungking Express
Should have seen this 2 years ago when I was so obsessed with WKW. If i could live in a movie, it would be this one. I like it when they play California Dreamin' for the millionth time. Hit's the spot and soul perfectly for me, the jazz score did it for me so yeah that's why it really HIT me. Faye and Tony dreamy. The Takeshi and Brigitte stuff was great too. I was turned up when they played for like 5 seconds the cover of Know Who You Are At Every Age by Faye Wong.

Diary of a Big Man
kind of the best and funniest screwball movie ever. Has the most random musical number mid film and it's the BEST bit and scene where Chow Yun-Fat walks down a street and doing a sax solo. In some ways, Challengers was inspired by this film. Both 4 lead actors are so charming. Joey and Sally should be together honestly. I really want to gatekeep this film but it's so good not to share it. Watch this film!!

High and Low
HOLY SHIT LMFAO. Lot's to gush over in this film. Flawless in it's blocking and feels like a play. Toshiro is great in this but Tatsuya charmed me by his performance for his micro expressions that he does in this film. Has the best eyewear/sunglasses. Kind of stupid of me watching the Spike Lee's reimagination of this film but to me they are both good but obviously this one is so much BETTER. All gas, no brakes after the first 10 minutes. If you make this film today they would KILL you.

Police Story
Chandelier stunt so good they had to play it 3 times. Jackie Chan is surprisingly good in this and he directs the fuck out of it. Love the old filmmaking style with the pan zooms. Killer soundtrack. The very first action sequence blew me away. Would kill for Brigitte Lin and Maggie Cheung
