Michael
Average rating on this at 3.6 at time of this review is an absolute joke. Doesn’t deserve anywhere near that as this is a bland, biased biopic which offers so little bar the amazing music on display. Sure, the music is fantastic, but of course it is, everyone on the planet knows about MJ and the music he made. Apart from that though it’s a terrible film and you’d be better off just going on YouTube and watching all his music videos. The ending is also embarrassing and I wouldn’t care in the slightest if we end up getting part two. I’d probably still watch it though.

The Voice of Hind Rajab
Incredibly hate to rate this as it’s a more or less a 90 minute propaganda piece against Isreal, which is something I don’t mind in the slightest but there really isn’t much here. The story is of course tragic and the horror of it is on full display here, but the film offers very little apart from that. Is it even close to be one of the greatest films ever made? No of course it’s not. Is it one of the most important films made in recent history? Yes it is. That’s what makes it so difficult to review and rate.

The Bride!
The bride was one of my most anticipated films of the year as the cast and concept are fantastic, however this is pretty awful. How this sits at a 2.9 average is a miracle because it’s one of the most blockbuster films which will release this year, and with a budget of 80 million USD it’s an achievement this is as bad as it is. Despite the good cast, the acting is terrible, the story is disrespectful to Mary Shelley and plays like a teens fan-fiction. Pretty awful on all fronts, the only redeeming quality is the cinematography, which is not fantastic by any stretch but it’s the most impressive thing about this awful movie.

Exit 8
Having been a fan of the game when it came out it was fun watching this adaptation. Sure, the characters could’ve easily escaped much sooner if they’d of just been a bit more intelligent but it’s fun and simple and keeps you engaged for the short runtime.

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come
Pretty fun, can’t lie the sister character, Kathryn Newton, is very annoying in this and just doesn’t seem to take the threat of death nearly seriously enough. Apart from that though it’s a fun time with some good kills.

Twins in Paradise
A pretty trippy and interesting film. In 9 minutes this manages to say more than most features which is an impressive feat in itself. It’s an intelligent and beautiful watch which I would highly recommend. The art is also absolutely stunning. A great time.

Prospect
Definitely not bad, but not all too good either. It’s so hard to hear what the characters are saying at times and without subtitles this was so difficult to understand at times. Plus it just kind of drags by, the tension isn’t built up enough and there isn’t enough character development. But, after saying all that, I did still enjoy this and think it could be redone with a bigger budget and be a much better film. The idea is there and the sets are beautiful, could’ve just done with a bit more fleshing out.

Palm Springs
Funny, interesting and all round a great time. Two great leads which have great chemistry and bounce off each other so well, was disappointed by the reveal of her sleeping with her sister’s boyfriend the night before the weekend, this felt so out of character that it did take me out of the emersion which was annoying, but apart from that it’s absolutely fantastic.

Last Year at Marienbad
Wanted to love this but it’s the most boring film I’ve ever seen. Visually it’s absolutely stunning, but by god does this drag. Unbelievable how boring this manages to be, it’s pretty much two characters, a man who CONSTANTLY says ‘remember me?’ And a woman who CONSTANTLY says ‘no’. That’s it. Boring as it gets. Wish I enjoyed it more.

The Human Condition III: A Soldier's Prayer
Finally completed the trilogy and this was simply fantastic. The scale of this is unprecedented and visually stunning. The whole story is tragic and really shows the brutality of war, the suffering and pain people go though still is a main point of contention today, and will presumably be forever more. War is never the answer yet it seems to be the constant answer for those in power.

Drop Dead Fred
Can honestly say I didn’t laugh once and all this film does is show how annoying Drop Dead Fred is. He’s the most obnoxious and annoying character I’ve seen on film, and all I wanted him to do was die. An awful film.

Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man
Peaky Blinders is a show I’ve never managed to really enjoy. It feels much more like a Marvel movie than it does a grounded show, and nothing proves that more than this film. Tommy Shelby is immortalised in Britain as a face for people who perceive themselves as cool and interesting but usally those people have little to no personality. They probably love ‘love island’, getting into fights with strangers and vote reform. It’s not really the shows fault, but you can definitely see why it attracts this audience. The character is literally invisible in the show, poses superpowers as seen in the film, and the plot is very reminiscent of Marvel films of the past. The Nazi plot and the Peaky blinders saving Britain and the world from the Nazis is so farfetched it just comes off as silly. There are some decent moments but the twist is so underwhelming and obvious a child could’ve figured it out. Oh, and the first hour or so is some of the most boring I’ve ever seen.

Project Hail Mary
Simply fantastic. A truly amazing film which lives up to the hype and expectations, the effects in this are absolutely gorgeous and beautiful to watch. Ryan Gosling is already a legend but this could be his best work. Everything about this is so well done and there are so truly unforgettable moments, strangely the karaoke scene is the one I have thought about most since leaving the cinema. We need more big budget as Sci-Fi and this proves why, fantastic.

Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie
This was pretty good. It’s not as funny as you’d expect it to be, but has a lot of charm and good storytelling to make up for it. I liked the story and how it never takes itself too seriously, and the effects are great considering how this was made. An enjoyable time.

What We Do in the Shadows
As somebody who isn’t really a fan of mockumentaries this was actually pretty good. Some funny moments and clever writing lead to it being a fun time. Sure, it’s not groundbreaking, but it’s still a fun and easy time.

How to Make a Killing
This is just a fun time. Sure, the premise is simple enough and there is t much depth to any of the characters, but it’s just a fun time. The performances are all solid and Glen Powell is great as always, just one of those movies which is fun and easy.

Amélie
A beautiful film. From the first minute to the last this is simply amazing. The ending is so well done and really makes you feel something. That’s what great films do, make you think and feel. This is a masterpiece. Simple as that.

Joint Security Area
A fantastic film. JSA shows humanity at its best and worst, with hate overcoming respect and resentment at the forefront. This film is about humanity and humility in the face of oppression, and the ending will stay with you for long after the film is over. A great watch.

Red Riding: The Year of Our Lord 1974
This is just quite silly. It tries to be this deep and disturbing film about tragedy and pain but really it’s just dull and uninspiring. The whole thing plays like a cheap rip off of a film which takes inspiration from greats like the shining without really exploring the inner details on what makes these films great and this so shallow. A good lead performance though.

Scream 7
This has the worst average rating in the series and it’s no wonder why considering the casting controversy, but there is no way this is the worst scream film. Sure, the ending is disappointing with the reveal being quite poor and the motivations being silly at best, but it’s still a fun time with some great kills. It’s a fun time if you watch this without any previous knowledge of the drama surrounding this.
