Grease

Grease is a very charismatic and cool movie. I love the atmosphere and overall vibe, and the cast is fantastic. It’s full of energy and vibrant colors, which makes it visually very pleasing. The soundtrack is, of course, incredible and very memorable. Overall, it’s a beautiful film with a unique charm and great choreography.

Joy House

Joy House

Les Félins is a twisted, seductive crime thriller set in the gorgeous Côte d’Azur. A lot of its charm comes from the actors, who really bring the story to life. The plot is engaging and keeps things interesting with plenty of twists and surprises. The score fits the vibe nicely and adds to the overall mood. It’s a classic, enjoyable piece of French noir.

O Brother, Where Art Thou?

O Brother, Where Art Thou?

A very funny and unpredictable film, O Brother, Where Art Thou? stands out as truly one of a kind. The story is both clever and entertaining, filled with quirky, unexpected moments that make it especially funny. The acting is strong across the board, and the music is outstanding, adding so much to the film’s charm. I also loved the atmosphere and the portrayal of the early 20th century American South, it gives the movie a unique and captivating vibe. Overall, a cool, distinctive film with plenty of clever references.

The Outlaw Josey Wales

The Outlaw Josey Wales

The Outlaw Josey Wales is a great Western. It’s a beautiful film with striking cinematography and strong performances. I really like the story and the overall atmosphere. It showcases the vast landscapes of the United States, which is very impressive to see. Clint Eastwood delivers a fantastic performance, and his aura is unmatched. In my opinion, it’s an underrated Western.

Dead Man's Letters

Dead Man's Letters

A haunting and beautiful portrayal of post apocalyptic Russia. The film is very heavy to watch, filled with a wide range of emotions, and the acting is outstanding. It’s incredibly sad and deeply moving. The cinematography is stunning and feels surprisingly modern. It’s also very interesting, and shocking it's that it was released just a few months before the Chernobyl disaster.

City of God

City of God

It was like a message from God. "Honesty doesn't pay, sucker." I think this film is as good as storytelling can get. It tells many stories at once, and the transitions between them are so seamless that you can easily miss them. The editing and direction really give Cidade de Deus the energy it has. It’s also visually stunning, which, combined with the excellent storytelling, makes it a masterpiece on its own. The acting was fantastic, and the soundtrack is also very good. It’s a very enjoyable and visually beautiful film about a very sad and ugly topic, crime and murder.

Knives Out

Knives Out

Knives Out is a classic murder mystery with a great cast and a good story. The cinematography was beautiful and the whole film was really exciting. The acting was all right, Ana de Armas really stood out though. Also, kinda funny how they changed Marta's nationality everytime. Overall, a decent film with a great twist and thrilling mysteries.

Targets

Targets

Another great film by Peter Bogdanovich. The acting is good and the whole vibe is very suspense and exciting. The story is also quite interesting and well written. I think the film was really ahead of it's time, which is very cool to see.

Gladiator

Gladiator

Gladiator is a very exciting, action-packed historical film about ancient Rome. The story is both thrilling and emotional at the same time. I think Joaquin Phoenix’s performance was incredible, and I really liked his character. The costume design is fantastic and very impressive, as is the score. Overall, this is a very enjoyable film, and for the year 2000, it is especially impressive.

Rosemary's Baby

Rosemary's Baby

Rosemary’s Baby is a very well made horror film. It’s very haunting and creepy. The acting is very good, it’s authentic and adds to the overall scary atmosphere. The story is fantastic and I enjoyed seeing New York City. Although I don’t like the director Roman Polanski, I liked this film and it’s one of the best horror movies.

20Mon
Dazed and Confused

Dazed and Confused

You just gotta keep livin’ man. L-I-V-I-N I really love the 70s vibe and the atmosphere in this film, the cars alone are a 10/10. The soundtrack is perfect, and so is the cast, there’s so much talent. It’s just an easy-to-watch, enjoyable film where basically nothing happens, and that’s what I like about it. It’s funny, relatable, and very cool. I definitely didn’t think it was going to be so good. Dazed and Confused is another masterpiece from Richard Linklater, whose work has continued to impress.

Sicario

Sicario

A really good film, with many great shots, it’s visually beautiful overall. The story is strong, and the acting is great, especially by Benicio del Toro. I think it depicts corruption very well, and it definitely makes you think. It’s a good mix of action and a physical thriller, which is not easy to achieve.

Blue Velvet

Blue Velvet

Blue Velvet was my first Lynch film, so I decided to rewatch it. The first time I saw it, I was completely shocked, both by the film itself and the music. I think the soundtrack is perfect, and especially the two prominent songs are a 10/10 and stay in your mind for a long time. The acting is fantastic and feels so real that it becomes disturbing. Overall, it’s a very weird film, but still probably the easiest to understand from David Lynch’s filmography. He uses so many symbols and metaphors if you watch closely, like in the opening scene with the typical American lifestyle and beauty, but then he shows us the dark, illegal and disturbing world living beneath that Americana surface. It’s a really beautiful and special film with so many meanings, and after watching it a second time, I was finally able to understand it better.

The Color of Money

The Color of Money

The Color of Money is a really great film. The soundtrack is fantastic and the story is really good and exciting. The performances of Paul Newman and Tom Cruise are amazing and their characters are interesting. I like how many differences and parallels they have. The cinematography and camera work is so beautiful, I think it’s a very underrated Scorsese film, it’s definitely one of his better ones. Very enjoyable and I recommend it, especially if you liked Marty Supreme.

16Thu
Cruel Intentions

Cruel Intentions

Cruel Intentions is a interesting, but typical 90s high school film. The story was pretty crazy but still enjoyable. The driving scenes were nice and the acting was okay, but nothing special. However, I think the ending wasn't the best, it should have been more dramatic and longer. Overall still an cool film and the music at the end was nice.

15Wed
The Martian

The Martian

The Martian is a good and exciting film. I like the story and the way it was portrayed on screen. Matt Damon delivers a great performance and overall the acting is alright. The soundtrack really stood out, it’s fantastic.

14Tue
Hail, Sarajevo

Hail, Sarajevo

Je vous salue, Sarajevo is so short but so heavy, it doesn’t really play like a traditional short movie, more like a visual essay or reflection on war and how we experience it through images. It’s incredible how two minutes can evoke so much emotion.

13Mon
Lessons of Darkness

Lessons of Darkness

A very dark and unsettling documentary about the Gulf War. The camera work is good and the shots are captured very well. It's really sad to see them though. The classical, dramatic music enhances the feeling unsettling feeling but also adds to the cinematic beauty.

12Sun
Charade

Charade

Charade is a classic. An entertaining film with a successful mix of suspense, romance, and comedy. Audrey Hepburn gives a fantastic performance, and the fashion in the film is stunning. The twist towards the end was truly unpredictable and very well done in my opinion. All in all, a very enjoyable classic set in the beautiful European city of Paris.
