Close Your Eyes

I watched this because I was bored. Pretty solid short film. Cool looking villain. Good horror aspects for 3 mins lol.

Close Your Eyes

This is so dry. Believe me, I understand. Cinema saves. Lives. Love. Us. I get it. But this was done with a dryness that neither invites you to love the characters. The camera is too still, too scared, to shy to perform in what seems to be a film released after such a long hiatus. So then it becomes self-indulgent, masturbatory, more a journal entry than an actual film. All the core elements are there, but there isn't love in it. We have the bones but not the body. No warmth to the body. The film is still stuck in the second or third draft, an editor absent. There is only the pace of a man at the end of his life, creating works too long for their own good in that late-Scorsese way. Not worth the time. Not even the end. If we want to talk about how cinema saves and the recollection of memories and reaching for the past to make sense of our present, Jonas Mekas did it better.

Close Your Eyes
