Clever, beautiful and some of the best dialogue I’ve ever seen, DI delivers on every front. I loved this from start to finish and plan a rewatch ASAP. Watch this if you haven’t already, one of the greatest noirs ever made.

“It’s straight down the line for both of us. Remember?” Fantastic Noir thriller with clever, snappy dialogue and a captivating plot that keeps you locked in the whole time. Intrusive thought: were they using matches or some little flick lighter thing bc I genuinely couldn’t tell? Vintage lighters are pretty cool and an entirely other rabbit hole to dive into.

I wasn't quite sure about this movie. I had no idea what the movie was about going in. During the first few minutes, I found out. The beginning for some reason was slow for me, which made me look at my phone for a little bit. But as the movie kept on going, I kept paying attention, forgetting that my phone was sitting right next to me. I have never seen an old film noir movie. I have seen modern and had ideas of what it was going to be like. It was nothing like how I thought. I had the idea of the police detective looking for a killer or something. It was a lot different than that. It was different, but it somewhat was a let down. The movie was great, but I was expecting more from it. I guess it's just because we think of these movies differently than they actually are. Regardless, this was a fantastic movie and I can see why it has made it to being one of the best movies of all time.

a lot of people having been talking about “noirvember” which got me inspired to check this one out. i’m quite a fan of the other Billy Wilder films i’ve seen such as Some Like it Hot, Sunset Boulevard, and The Apartment all being very good in books. this definitely has a lot of hallmarks of a noir film what with the use of contrast and rain-soaked streets, femme fatales, and a general dark and suspenseful tone. there’s some very sharp and witty banter in this movie, so the dialogue is definitely a strong point here.
