Is it on the nose? Yeah. Shallow? A bit. But I'm glad I watched this one. Littered with plenty of funny bits to remain entertaining, and I found Matthew Broderick's little monologue at the end really interesting. Wish the themes displayed in that scene were more present throughout, but alas.
