3/365 It’s like…me? Idk how to explain. It’s just real, a good depiction of what it’s like to be passionate about art from the perspective of a teenager. This is how I feel about things, especially movies and music, so I get it, it’s relatable. Except for the fact that he becomes more n more of an asshole throughout, it’s relatable. I mean i think even given the name of the movie, I don’t think you can like movies, watch this movie, and not like this movie, it’s a movie for movie lovers. A reminder that movies can be whatever you want them to be. The acting is actually really good because watching this I feel like there’s no way the nigga playing Lawrence isn’t actually like this. I always appreciate movies where the main character is pretty much in every scene because not only do you get to really explore this character, it requires such a good performance from the actor to keep things interesting, I think this is a good example of that. I love the vibrant colors in this, the aesthetic, etc. Also the scene of Alana explaining why she hates movies is heavy man, executed it perfectly. Her delivery, keeping the camera on her, etc. Overall, this movie is just a fun watch, if you like movies you’ll the many film references in this, the movie is funny, and if you’re passionate about something especially if it’s creative then you’ll relate to some part of this. I wish there was a movie like this but for music lovers.

Pretty sweet and endearing comedy, which isn’t so surprising as I’d heard prior that this was a mix between Lady Bird and Clerks — and yes, I totally agree! Definitely could have used support from more interesting side characters, but it nevertheless remained funny and even quite heartfelt towards its pretentious movie obsessed teen lead.

In the same way that I feel Bo Burnham's 𝘌𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘩 𝘎𝘳𝘢𝘥𝘦 perfectly captures the awkwardness of young adolescence, I feel that this encaptures the social anxiety, of peeking beyond the shell for Lawrence here. He isn't charming nor is he likeable, but I loved him a lot. Sometimes, there are these trying people in life. They try and try in all the wrong ways. And us as the audience hopes and hopes that they make one right to make something of themselves. Lawrence makes right. With a sharp script and full of heart and humor in all the right places, I was asbolutely charmed by this. Incredibly comforting.
