The Fire Within: A Requiem for Katia and Maurice Krafft
Thematically, at times very close to Grizzly Man, especially the thread about the arrogance of man who has decided he knows and has mastered nature. It seems to me that once every few years, Herzog tries to prove the already dead Kinski that nature is not erotic, but chaotic and deadly. Though, some of the archival footage feels a bit like volcano porn.

"Por causa desta unidade e desta união, eles foram capazes de descer ao inferno e vindicar uma imagem das próprias garras do diabo. E é por isso que eu queria fazer este filme para eles."
The Fire Within: A Requiem for Katia and Maurice Krafft
Where Fire of Love focused on the Krafft’s personal lives and footage, The Fire Withinfocuses on their legacy, as well as exactly what they were shooting. Both are very interesting views into these immensely interesting people, showing two different sides of who they were. As per usual, Herzog focuses on the human aspect of their work, highlighting moments that showed who they were as people, as well as the moments where they documented the tragedy that comes with eruptions. It’s wild that, this year alone, two documentaries came out about the Kraffts, and I am glad that I had the opportunity to see both of them, since both were equally as interesting as they were informative. Yet another home run documentary for Herzog, making me even more curious to see what his next subject will be.
