The film felt to me like a mere copy of Kubrick's original, which is why I'm rating it half a star lower than the original. That doesn't mean the film is bad, though; I just mean it offered nothing new.

"Murder me like you've murdered my mother." Dominique's performance was insanely good. I remember watching this for the first time at the start of my teens and her screaming that line over and over is stuck in my head. This story was just devastating. Delores you deserved better. Jeremy Irons did such a fantastic job here as well, I mean no surprise he's a great actor but goddamn.

It is currently /not so/ my favorite movie even tough I have read the book. The scenery, obviously, beautiful. I, personally, don't like the scene where Quility ran and yeah, y'know

On its own Lolita is a good film but in relation to the book this is a terrible adaptation. The book was sumn of an argument for Humbert Humbert in court and was written to 3 parties—Humbert himself, the jury and the reader. Humbert tries to justify his pedophilia to the reader by using terms like ‘nymphets’ which was said more than once in the movie and some very compelling arguments like the one that paints Dolores as a seductress whereas she is a young girl who’s being exploited. The film only shows this compelling argument by Humbert and skips the other parts of the book. It makes Dolores seem like she actually wanted it whereas in the book she was very uncomfortable with the whole scenario. Im quite certain that some false intellectuals will try to use this film as a justification for pedophilia based on the intent of Humbert portrayed by the film and the fact that Dolores wanted it, forgetting that intent doesn’t matter when certain crimes are committed e.g pedophilia. Good movie, terrible adaptation.

LA BIZARRA ROMANTIZACION DE LA PEDOFILIA Está película ya llevaba varios años de haberla escuchado en todos lados respecto a la perspectiva que se tenía de esta cinta. Al principio tenía una vista de que está película tenía una connotación erótica y que pertenecía a este género inclusive pero conforme al tiempo esa idea fue desechada por la realidad de quienes ya la han visto. Mi perspectiva y expectativa era una película sobre la pedofilia y que está misma fuera contada desde el punto de vista del protagonista, ya que tuve alguna noción respecto al libro original. Bien pues ya después de haberme atrevido de ver está película y por fin encontrarla aquí algunos apuntes, más que desde el punto cinematográfico son más enfocados al punto social. Cómo ya había dicho, la película tiene el punto de vista del protagonista porque en el libro así también está narrada la historia pero el hecho de que esto se hubiera adaptado a la cinta ha provocado este efecto que mucha gente se llevara la idea de que esto es una romantizacion del crímen. Y lo he visto en muchas adolescentes como esta errónea interpretación afectan y querer idealizar está relación en la realidad. En alguna otra cosa respecto a técnicas o artístico no tiene nada de especial por lo que está película simplemente brilla por su retorcida historia que se ha dejado a interpretación del público cuando bien se pudo haber advertido a la gente de dicha perspectiva o usado una perspectiva de narrador omnisciente o desde la perspectiva de Lolita para ver está problemática respecto la pedofilia.
