i saw some fanart of kakihara god knows how many years ago and thought he looked cool as fuck but i never got around to watch the movie, rather i forgot it existed until recently. unfortunately, kakiharas looks and wardrobe were the only thing i liked about this movie after all. after the first 5 minutes i already knew this was not gonna be for me but seeing the amount of good ratings, i still made myself suffer through it. the over-the-top gorey parts were "alright" to watch but some slower, more intense torture scenes made my stomach turn. but that wasnt even what bothered me, it was the amount of gruesome violence against women and the reactions to it. i had to skip through them bc i couldnt bear to watch them at all. you could make a visually interesting and well executed movie thats sick, perverse, overly violent, sadistic and twisted with some dark comedic elements without needing any rape, rape fantasies and well, as mentioned before, horrible brutality against women. it served absolutely no purpose and the movie would still work without it so really, what was it for? a specific deranged incel audience that gets off to that? what a waste of time, fuck this and fuck whoever let such a cool design like kakiharas go to waste for such an awful movie

Oh, I love the sound of sadism and dark humor in the morning. But fucking hell, this was detailed as all hell. The way those torture scenes were played out (especially that one scene with the prostitute; if you know, you know), you don’t forget that shit. It literally stays with you.

I never thought this movie would make me laugh more than it should. Another thing I want to add, Kakihara has a nice fashion sense! I wanted all the suits that he was wearing, especially that holographic one.

Welcome to an absurd, sadistic, and even darkly funny tale made to disgust and upset with its slightest tinge of torture, but also to weirdly enthrall those sick pups who can get with its madness. This is Takashi Miike's Ichi the Killer, a film that's rather not compelling, but instead, insanely intriguing. I had fun that was, yes, repulsive and disturbing, and yet, hard to quit watching—it's entertainment comes more or less down to its fantastic performances and representation of a gritty, fucked up Shinjuku. It's a ragtag and almost impulsive confrontation of sadism and masochism that doesn't really hold back at any moment. I loved it. 4.1/5

When you inflict pain you gotta put your heart into it. There’s no love in your violence. When ICHI THE KILLER started with the killer in question’s cum shot drenching the title card, I knew I had made a mistake. I couldn’t stop watching though. Even when the subsequent film made me cringe and squirm and gag and scream, I just couldn’t stop. What a sick and twisted vision. Who could this possibly even be for? Well, anyway. I just downloaded the manga lol
