Black Christmas

how do you screw up a remake this badly? incest and child rape eating eyeballs and other cannibalism billy being yellow af looking like that man from sin city and his sister/daughter looking like a very ugly man in shitty makeup WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK? this is not how you put a spin on a classic who wrote this and wrong with them? someone sat down and thought "you know what black christmas 1974 was missing, incest and child rape" are you fucking kidding me? like i can't get over the fact that someone watched the original and then made this and thought it was a good idea in any way shape or form 1/2 out of 10 stars because the house looked almost like the one from the original

Black Christmas

"Oh, fuck no. I'm already startin' to see the Sugar Plum Fairies, I don't need to hear the little fuckers too!" My favorite of the three Black Christmas movies, I had to show this to Bee before Christmas. The Cast is absolutely stellar, I love the early 2000's so much.

Black Christmas

Idk how I feel about this one. It definitely is a massive downgrade from the original. But it does however have its moments. It is not scary at all like the original though. It decided to steer away from horror and into gorey violence. Which there is a shocking amount of compared to the first. The cast members I can say I enjoyed more of them where as the first I only enjoyed like 2. Giving the killer a backstory kinda ruined it for me. Especially with that not needed scene what was that? 😭 It was definitely interesting to see some backstory on it though. Didn't like the 2 killer thing however. Adding a backstory kinda removes all the creepiness the original had. I'd rather know nothing about the killer tbh, makes it way more scary.

Black Christmas

I think if you ignore that it’s meant to be a Black Christmas remake and its own thing it’s actually not that bad of a film especially for a remake. Also ignoring the back story parts I really just enjoyed the girls in the sorority house and I liked how the police weren’t a big part in it like the original. It was a little confusing timeline wise as it was jumping around so much and the cannibalism was a bit random. It was a lot more fast paced than I anticipated and Mary Elizabeth Winstead is in it which also adds to it. ALSO Agnes was butch as hell 💀💀 she was throwing them around

Black Christmas

This is everything bad about the 2000’s remake era of horror films. Overly explaining shit nobody cared about, violence that is at best gross, but never inventive or particularly well done, no real scares, no artistry of any sort, certainly nothing like the originals which captured the imagination in the first place. It’s bad.

Black Christmas

#1 of Slasher September 2019: Games, Rituals, and Sundowns (https://boxd.it/3Ql9g) Glen Morgan's rendition of Black Christmas does not mess around. In the space of its opening fifteen minutes, four bodies are either impaled, gouged, or disposed in a dumpster—each kill dished out in the quickest and bluntest of merry fashion. Marketed as a Final Destination movie in Japan, this modern slasher manages to replicate the same feel of a golden era slasher quite remarkably, serving up a straightforward plot that's almost a dumbed down version of the original and more a straight rip from the genre's biggest triumph Halloween. As far as remakes go, Black Christmas does a pretty decent job. It's strange, scary, and frantic like any good slasher should be—its final twenty minutes capture that craziness the most. Still, I wanted to be one of the few who loved this film—I keep seeing it pop up on this site with fellow reviewers adoring the heck out of it—and I unfortunately can't say the same. Sure, it looks pretty and the kills are perfect, yet there's hardly any tension felt, and it's even laughable at times. But, I did walk away enjoying what I got, and that's good enough considering the amount of hate this thing gets. 2.9/5
