Super Mario Bros.
You can tell that this movie was created by insane people, and I love it for that. While is starts off innocently in Brooklyn, but things really start to shine when the Mario Bros are taken to another dimension with an alternate, yet incredible detailed, version on New York where (some)the citizens have evolved from dinosaurs, as opposed to apes. It is truly fascinating to watch. That being said, having a well detailed, bizarre world isn't enough to make a movie good. But what is is Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo chemistry together in the movie. The play off each other really well. Sure, I read that they were drunk and/or high for most of the filming, but hey! Sometimes you best artistry comes when you are impaired. The whole cast does a decent job, honestly, given what I heard were stressful and unaccommodating working conditions to begin with. And despite the fact that Nintendo basically disowns this movie, I feel like that borrowed a lot of ideas for future Mario projects. Jumping into the wall to go to another region and a circular show slide sounds a lot like Super Mario 64 to me. Hell, the beginning of the movie plays out exactly like the Illumination Mario movie that they love so much. All I am saying is, pay the original a little respect.

this was such a cyberpunkian adaptation, enjoyable at last.
