for such a short film this felt quite long. i wished the plot was better and some jokes just didn’t land for me. it was very gay though and best friends to lovers will always give me the feels. long live lesbians!!!

texas accent margaret qualley is my sleep paralysis demon. kinda funny how through only the first 3 minutes you can tell how bad this movie is. so boring i fell asleep two thirds in.

I think the filmmakers themselves basically called it a trashy, stupid gay story. Laughs here, sighs there. An errant adventure straight down the middle for me. Ethan and Tricia are the original audience of two, but everyone is invited.

this film is capital f FUN, and I don't mean in the way that, because of its silliness, I'm willing to disregard its flaws. it feels a bit dramatic to say this about a movie that's so, so ridiculous, but films like these remind me just how important it is that filmmakers are given the money to fund passion projects like these and how lucky I am to have access to movie theaters that are willing to show them. I know this is a story I'll return to time and time again, and one I doubt I'll ever tire of. phew, what a time.

58/100 Check out my 2024 ranked - https://boxd.it/shaTi Beanie Feldstein is by far the best part of this film that I only came in for because of the Matt Damon cameo whilst hoping this might turn out to be good; it was Coen after all. But turns out, it’s the shit one. Ethan can’t direct for shit or maybe for that matter, write. The psychedelic sequences were nice with Miley Cyrus but irrelevant. The dog race was another random plugin. For a film about lesbian sex, this doesn’t even show anything. Maybe that could’ve redeemed it. This feels at times like a parody in the way it’s shot and sometimes Coen-like. Shame they don’t make films together. Joel still makes good films. Can’t say that same for this man.

adding this to the long list of films i wanted to love but didn’t. it’s under 90 minutes but it feels like it was over 2 hours, it dragged on and on for me and it was excruciating. i do love linda ronstadt with all my heart tho!
