saw the dead meat podcast was doing an episode on this so i decided to watch this in preparation. via 360p YouTube upload because why not. despite the quality not being ideal, i thought this was a pretty good film. oddly scenic at times, which is weird to say for such a tense and violent film. but i do find the vast desert landscapes very nice to look at. i don’t know if it’s because i’ve watched a few noir films recently but also something about this felt kind of neo-noir. maybe it’s just the “ordinary guy ends up in deep shit” plotline. loved the score!

Heavily reminds me of No Country for Old Men, obviously not as good but this is still pretty awesome. Loved the leads, the tensions towards the end was great. 8/10

The most notible aspect of this film to me was it's use of the long, vast, and isolating character of the open rural texas highway to create a terrifying and tense set up that is elaborated on in a way that is both action packed and psychologically tormenting for the protagonist. Also damn bro i wonder how much of the budget went to cars alone 😭.
