Return to Seoul
While not everybody will be able to relate to the hyper specific scenario that Freddie goes through in this movie, it does have an underlying theme that we can all understand, the journey to find one's self identity. Never have a seen a movie do this so well and so honestly. You see all emotions up close, and even when you see her being a train wreak in real time, you understand. Or at least I did. I think we have all made bad decisions in our life knowing that we were making bad decisions, but we all had our reasons at the time to do so, and that helps shape who are are.

91/100 This film felt fresh. It showed you what it wanted to and you understood it perfectly because the themes were so unbelievably strong. Such a complex character but you can understand her thought process whether you agree with her or not, and I think that’s due to the subtly brilliant performance from Ji-Min park. Saw an interview and she said she was a visual artist and I really saw that in her performance. Honestly wish I could see more films like this. She went from like quirky, energetic. To an arms dealer, to I don’t really know. That worked because her character was always consistently all over the place. Hence her lifestyle changing drastically. She used her energetic lifestyle to run away from her grief and issues, but at some point you have to stop and deal with them. I was taken out of the film during the 5 year time jump. But it was just because I was so invested in what was going on and then we move on half a decade. Was brought back in with the last 20 minutes. Thoroughly enjoyed. But I do think that the 5 year time jump segment (aside from everything with the mother) was a personal weak point for me. Brilliant film.

Good film.
