SPOOKTOBER #21 I personally think SAW X is the best in the franchise, at least from what I've watched. The story is more engaging, not just relying on gruesome scenes like the previous films. And what's being hyped as the most brutal film, I still find "Terrifier 2" to be even more brutal.

As much as I did enjoy some of the traps, this felt incredibly stupid and almost insulting at times. The acting, apart from Tobin Bell, was laughable bad at times, especially the blonde women’s lover, he has to be a nepo baby because he was awful in this. Also, the trap he dreamed up, who would prefer to have their eye balls removed instead of breaking 5 fingers? Sure breaking your finger hurts but compared to losing your eyes is absolutely nothing. Also, the main villain, blonde women, had the easiest game and didn’t get any real retribution for her actions. Overall I found this dull and silly.

When I say I looked forward to this for 2 years, it was never lower than my second-most-anticipated film during that long stretch, and saw it get hyped as the best Saw film, and it still exceeded my expectations. 2 decades and we get the most compassionate and cathartic tale in the series yet. And I got to join in a cheer in a fully packed theater in 2023 for the worst-kept-secret reveal in a midcredits yet The strangest hero film of the year. The best Saw film yet. And in my top 3 films of the year, period Tobin, Shawnee, Costas: Welcome back. I missed you all so much. Never leave again

Yayy happy to see John Kramer and Amanda, although they are still trifling sadists. Slightly better acting, but Gabriela’s was just poor. Very interesting premise (probably the best of them all), and I liked the last 15 mins, but again Jigsaw just gets so lucky everytime. I know they try and convince us that he’s just that smart and can predict every move, but it’s frustrating and becomes a bit jarring. Was an enticing watch though, and I liked that he stayed present during the traps.

Wild to think that we’re already 10 films deep into the Saw franchise. With that, you’d think that the stories could be stale and uniniteresting, but that’s far from the case here. Saw X, at it’s core, knows what a Saw film is supposed to be, and it goes with it. The story is compelling, with a twist to the typical traps that we see in this series, offering a fresh take with these established characters. I don’t think the supporting cast of known characters were quite used to their full potential, but nonetheless, it still was nice to see them on screen and mentioned throughout. It’s inventive in the traps, and I couldn’t imagine what those theaters must have looked like when it first came out. Overall, Saw X is more or less a return to form for the series, and I genuinely hope that the next films look at this and take notes, since this is what makes a Saw film great.
