Halloween
I decided to watch this movie with the 1994 LaserDisc commentary that included John Carpenter, Debra Hill, and Jamie Lee Curtis. While clearly an early commentary track (they weren't even recording together!), it was a fun piece that included some information about one of my favorite movies I had never known. Highly recommended if you have access to it.
Halloween
SPOOKTOBER #18 Literally nothing happens until the last 30 minutes. I could’ve skipped to the end and missed nothing. Even the third act’s got zero tension. Overrated asf
Halloween
totalmente superestimadissimo!
Halloween
Second time I’ve watched this and I enjoyed it a lot more the second time. I still don’t think it’s very scary, but it’s undoubtedly iconic. The music, suspense and cinematography are all fantastic, and my favourite part is character of Michael Myers. The scene of him as a child is truly great and the mystery around him is gripping. The worst part is the final girl dropping her knife multiple times, despite the obvious threat. Apart from that though this is a certified classic.
Halloween
Halloween
esse michael eh uma porta mank
Halloween
A 5 star film, but I really do believe its sequel is somehow even better overall. Carpenter is a master
Halloween
Checking in again, I still really like this. I don't have the history with it so many others do, coming to this (and most of its genre offspring) just in the last few years, but I think I can still dial in a bit to its wavelength. Even beyond the magnificent time-travel effect of what is now a 45-year span, it sets a pretty perfect suburban mood; a self-concerned American fishbowl with a piranha having been plopped right into the midst of it. Whole-chest Loomis proclamations give it that little extra gravity, and hark back to similar movie-characters past also reckoning with 'the horrors'. Myers' theatrics are a Halloween hoot. The bogeyman's stage is set. Having gone through the whole series now I feel I could easily give it all the 3-star treatment, its trash and gems being strewn about all willy-nilly. Messy productions, messier plots, shameless cash grabs, brutal re-imaginings, the confused tension over "mere man" or "unstoppable force", along with a good chunk of laugh-out-loud fun. But it's here at the beginning I think my own sensibilities lean most. The one-two punch of these initial outings where we're just stuck in a closet or stuck on a hospital gurney, perhaps only ever one block away from oblivion.
Halloween
Finally logging this. Absolutely lost in the cars and the decor more than anything else. Time capsule, ahoy! And the lil' synth trills whenever Mikey does a peep :D
Halloween
