I really wanted to watch this in cinema but missed my chance to. I watched it on shudder via Amazon. I absolutely loved this it’s not exactly scary but the standout is concept and cinematography it just keeps you hooked and intrigued as it does genuinely feel like a late night tv show

gostaria de deixar claro que eu daria 4 estrelas pra esse filme. adorei, me entreteu por essas 1h30 mas há algo nele que eu não posso deixar passar batido: o uso de "ilustrações" feitas por inteligência artificial. design gráfico é meu trabalho e de muitas outras pessoas que podem ter assistido esse filme, ou mesmo, produzido ele, visto que há uma charge bem no inicio que eu acho q nao foi feita por ia. me senti um pouco desrespeitado; pode parecer besteira aos olhos de muitos mas custava pagar um artista profissional pra criar aquelas transições? além de ficar feio, quebrou um pouco o clima q o filme estava levando pra mim. tirando toda essa militância, eu amei o filme. um slowburn bem feito com atuações boas e um plot bem basiquinho. nada que faça kabom na sua cabeça mas te dá um sustinho legal. o personagem principal é bem odiável, assim como o Car, um cético profissional, basicamente. ele não fez nada diferente do que as celebridades dos anos 80, já que todas elas tem pacto segundo os crentes. pensei no vô Jô Soares o filme inteiro. por quê? não sei, mas pensei. so it is done.

Toda a proposta desse filme é muito fascinante, primeiro porque ele é extremamente a cara da tv sensacionalista e tinha a guerra pela audiência, o que hoje se transforma na guerra de likes e visualizações, mas é muito intrigante quando você vê que esse filme é uma produção da Shudder e isso explica muita coisa. Late Night with The Devil ou Tarde A Noite com O Diabo é um filme que brinca com a lógica do Found Footage, mas ao invés de uma filmagem amadora, ele tem um ar documental daqueles que desenterram passados obscuros da tv. E aqui ele usa vários tropos pra contar uma história que é simples, mas que a sua narrativa o engrandece. Ele tem muito a cara de um curta da série de antologias de VHS. Com a diferença de que aqui é um longa e um dos bons, não me choca a Shudder ser a distribuidora desse. Toda a estrutura que homenageia e satiriza talk shows que passavam nas madrugadas e viviam em guerra um com o outro e nisso a briga pela audiência sujeitava pessoas ao caos e situações tanto insalubres quanto, supostamente, macabros. Aqui você encontra de tudo desde videntes, pessoas que estudam a para psicologia e possessões ao vivo, sendo esse último o grande chamativo da narrativa. O mais interessante do longa é brincar o tempo todo com o que é real e o que é um show para chamar a audiência. E sendo essa última parte o lado mais "físico" e metafísico, ao mesmo tempo. O final do filme é algo que me perdeu quando ele tenta "explicar" e fazer uma brincadeira meta linguística, existe um certo nível de Pânico moral que é algo que era e ainda é, muito recorrente de um mundo cercado por telas, a máxima de que as telas vão roubar sua alma (principalmente pra um período onde as pessoas tinham cada vez mais acesso a TVs) é algo que é elevado e tal qual os tropos narrativos de famosos se envolvendo em cultos e a exibição estreônica de tragédias ao vivo é tão meta-linguístico que sinceramente, esse aqui pode ser tanto uma novidade, quanto uma releitura de Halloween 3: Dia das Bruxas e isso é um elogio sincero. No mais, Late Night with The Devil ou Tarde A Noite com o Diabo é um filme que brinca com os símbolos da TV estadunidense que satiriza os talk shows da madrugada, faz um Paralelo interessante em um mundo cercado por telas, utiliza de tropos narrativos que vão desde cultos satânicos a até mesmo vender a sua alma em troca da audiência e do sucesso. Somado com um estilo que é tanto metalinguístico quanto chamativo (o que casa bem com a proposta de ser um show de sensacionalismo), ele é um filme que agrada, diverte e entretém na medida certa. Quem viu esse e gostou, precisa ver ou rever Halloween 3: Dia das Bruxas o quanto antes.

I'm torn between how I feel about the story and the on-screen content, and the on-screen content including an ever-present image of an owl on a building with AI-interpretation of how close it thinks windows are If I go with how I feel about one, this gets a 5 star and is on my best of the year list; Dastmalchian gives a great emotional performance as a man struggling with his last chance both on-air and, he feels, as someone trying to hold it together amidst his personal life having been shattered by tragedy, and Ingrid Torelli has an underrated excellent showing as a possessed youth constantly unnerving and on the edge of lashing out But if I go with how I feel about the other, this gets half a star and is on my worst of the year list; we need to push back on AI, as with many other bad things (like anti-Palestine sentiment, letting Biden get away with financing genocides, and endorsements of giving banks here and Zelenskyys elsewhere more and more bailouts and money while actual creative and important people here are starving and homeless), from the start because when we don't they grow.
