FIRST OF ALL. to the couple who sat behind me for the first half of the film talking forcing me to move YOU DONT DESERVE TO GO TO THE CINEMA as for the film: i am so unbelievably in awe of how this film was made. the music, the cinematography, the acting (zendaya ilysm), the POV SHOTS OF PATRICK AND ART AND THE TENNIS BALL OMG????? the end scene made my jaw drop CINEMA. COME ONNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Really thought I was going to enjoy this more than I did. A couple of the reviews I ‘liked’ sum up my similar thoughts well. The techno club music only works when they’re actually playing tennis, otherwise, it’s so out of place and overly loud. Tashi is a piece of shit. Why anyone would go after her is beyond me, although Patrick is also kind of a piece of shit so that makes sense for him. Art did no wrong. The editing and camerawork combined are weirdly disjointed at times. In addition, the non-linear storytelling was a terrible choice and makes for a confusing and even more disjointed flow of the narrative. The performances are stellar and the final tennis match (aka the last 20 minutes) shines bright among a sloppy pile of mediocre rubbish. It’ll sit at a 3.5 for now, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets bumped down the more I mull it over.
