This is just a preliminary vibe check because I watch this movie late at night, tired, with subtitles, so I will need to revisit it for sure. Really cool visuals, seemingly a very detailed world, but a bit confusing at times (again, probably my fault).

It took me, like the second or third time, to actually pay attention to the story because I was too busy focusing on the animation. Even now, the animation holds up.

A perennial classic, boasting exquisite scenes, composition, and some of that neato 90's cyber paranoia and philosophizing... with one of the most painful English dubs I've heard in recent memory. First time watching it this way and jeez LOUISE does it sap the magic right out of things.

Why she still look the same after the treatment? I'm kinda sick with all movies now trying to be The Substance. Wrap it up, but not gonna lie that shell make me body feel itchy.

A stunning piece of animation, Ghost in the Shell is one of the more well-known anime adaptations, which it rightfully deserves. It’s a highly entertaining film, and while there are only a few fight scenes, they are incredible to watch, and the rest of the film still is intriguing and engaging. It’s been a while since I last watched an adaptation of a manga, but it makes me really want to get back into reading them, since it really left me impressed. I’ll have to check out more Japanese animated films this year, they’ve always been very good, so I have no clue why I rarely will watch one.

“You can be overly trusting.” - I think this is unfairly compared to the substance. - Few good giggles. - Predictable plot. - Sven from HIMYM. - Good performances from Kate and Elizabeth. - Shit hits the fan and gets fun with only 10 mins left sucked.

can see how this influenced a lot of Cyberpunk media that came afterwards (notably The Matrix) beautiful animation and very philosophical (perhaps so much so that i couldn’t get everything on a first viewing) in its themes.
