Don't Look Now
I’m still not sure what happened, but it was freaky and I’m here for it.
Don't Look Now
Day 20 of 31 Nights of Halloween I’ve been waiting ages to watch this film, and I’m so glad that I finally had the chance to watch it. Once this film starts going, it never lets up, a relentless beast with some stunning performances and fantastic atmosphere. There are some equally stunning shots on location, really giving the film a more authentic, classic horror film. I can’t wait to revisit this film in the future, since I know that it is going to continue to grow on me.

the atmosphere in this one is really nice, simultaneously pretty and also spooky. good use of the color red as a recurring thing too. the editing is pretty good as well, especially with the cuts during the film’s famous/infamous sex scene. extra points for the ending which effectively pulls everything together in a satisfying, somewhat shocking even if it’s hinted at a lot beforehand.

weird but i liked it

Hooptober 12 (https://boxd.it/O4q2m) #25 of 33 • 4 of 4 films based on novels (https://letterboxd.com/gavinmcdowell/list/based-on-a-book/genre/horror/) AND 7 of 9 different decades (https://letterboxd.com/films/genre/horror/by/release/size/small/) (1970s) I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little disappointed. Doesn’t even get good until the last 20 minutes. Lame twist. Great editing tho. ** UPDATE: Downgrading this from 2.5 to 1.5 stars just because of how much it pisses me off.
Don't Look Now
Beautiful and haunting. Great movie. Great performances. Great ending.
Don't Look Now
The wind changes. Visions emerge and a sick aftertaste in the throat emerges. A breath of fresh foreboding air. Exhale. Inhale. There's a comforting hand on the shoulder. It withdraws and a vertigo sight of clustered buildings materialize. Exhale. Inhale. A rain jacket; red as red. The day is cloudy, but the day isn't rainy. Why wear a rain jacket? Exhale. Inhale. Blink your eyes. Harder. Is this a burden brought upon by death? Is this the color of a flushed memory? Is this a ghastly warning? Exhale. Inhale Departed ones never disintegrate. Departed ones never disintegrate. Departed ones never disintegrate.

Hooptober 7 Film #58 Don’t Look Now This is a rewatch for me. I watched it for the first time less than two months ago. I bought it on the most recent Criterion sale because I loved it. On rewatch, I loved it even more. This is an absolutely beautiful movie about love, loss, moving on, hope, living in the past, and our beliefs. First time I watched it, I got Hereditary vibes. It has a similar story: a horror movie about a family grieving the passing of a daughter. This movie is so very different than Hereditary. This is such a subdued, slow burn type of movie. It’s a film about the characters. The writing is exceptional and Julie Christie and Donald Sutherland are perfect in their roles. The editing is very well done. In the wrong hands, this could have easily been a boring movie. The cinematography, editing, music, overall sense of dread, characters, and the mystery keep you engaged the entire time even though it could be considered slow-paced. Don’t Look Now (great title) is a masterpiece. It may not be the scariest horror movie ever made, but it sure is terrifying in its own way thanks to the subject matter and the genius directing of Nicolas Roeg. It’s hard to think of any negatives regarding this movie. Watching it again was even better because I picked up on things I didn’t notice the first time, I understood the movie better, and I knew what to expect. Highly, highly, highlyrecommend for anyone who enjoys horror movies or great movies in general. 9/10

Don't Look Now
It started off strong then went downhill from there. There were some interesting moments, but it was still kind of dull. The ending was the only part that was interesting.
