The Great Dictator
In the final scene Charlie Chaplin delivers one of the greatest speeches ever recorded, a speech which is as relevant today as it was 80 years ago. The film as a whole is a great time, and it showcases just how brilliant of a writer and director Chaplin was. One of the greatest films I’ve ever seen, and no doubt one of the greatest ever made.

It’s scary how relevant this still is, that final speech literally gave me chills.

"Wherever you are, look up, Hannah. The clouds are lifting. The sun is breaking through. We are coming out of the darkness and into light. We are coming into a new world, a kindlier world, where men will rise above their hate, their greed and brutality. Look up, Hannah. The soul of man has been given wings, and at last he is beginning to fly. He is flying into the rainbow, into the light of hope, into the future, the glorious future, that belong to you, to me, and to all of us."

"Nosso conhecimento nos fez cínicos, nossa inteligência nos fez cruéis e severos. Nós pensamos muito e sentimos pouco. Mais do que máquinas, nós precisamos de humanidade." Esse é o filme mais incrível já feito por Charlie! Charlie Chaplin sempre foi incrível nas suas ideias para criar um filme, tanto com a mensagem que ele quer passar como o jeito que ele transmite essa mensagem, mas esse filme é muito mais que isso. Abortando um tema muito pesado que foi o nazismo e o fascismo, Charlie faz uma sátira crítica muito importante e incrível. Sendo esse o seu primeiro filme falado, ele trás um discurso com uma das maiores e mais importante mensagem já passadas no cinema, principalmente no período em que foi lançado aonde essa mensagem tinha uma grande força, e incrível que parece, infelizmente esse discurso ainda é totalmente necessário nos dias atuais. Foi com muita coragem e cuidado que Charlie Chaplin fez desse filme uma obra de arte. Sempre será um dos maiores diretores de todos os tempos!

"César o nada. Emperador del mundo". Si alguien te pregunta porque Chaplin está en un lugar importante en la historia, el porque es digno de recibir 12 minutos de ovación en los Oscar y porque tiene el título de el mejor comediante del séptimo arte; muestrale está película. Chaplin es quien se le debe el mérito de la sátira política como la conócemos. La manera en que ridiculiza toda la ideología fascista que reinaba en Europa del siglo XX es impresionante y a la vez equilibrarlo con otro lado de la moneda como el odio. Chaplin, en el monólogo final, deja claro que está cinta no es más que una parodia y mufa a la condición política y social de ese entonces. Es un discurso acerca de como el ser humano, esclavo de su codicia y egoísmo ha perdido la compasión, el amor y la fraternidad. Con eso último, todo está historia cobra sentido y la cierra de manera perfecta.

That last speech scene was the essences of this movie. I can imagine how influential and impactful it is back then.

This is the type of movie where we realize the real power of cinema. How it can be a tool of hope and love, even in a world surrounded by darkness. I don't have any idea if Charles Chaplin knew this movie would be part of history of cinema and the world, but here we are. It's a pity to think the ending of this movie was way more hopeful than the end of the WWII, but at least we can look back to the final speech and try to not make the same mistakes.
