Transformers: Age of Extinction

Transformers: Age of Extinction

Cade a extinção?

Transformers: Age of Extinction

Whoever started letting Michael Bay direct films nearing the 3hr mark is an opp because his charm rarely lasts beyond 2hrs. That being said, despite it bordering on tediousness,AGE OF EXTINCTION rocks. It was quite inspired of Bay to make Extinction the most politically interesting film of the franchise by making the American government the villain. American fear, misinformation, and greed following the Battle of Chicago have turned the Transformers into enemy #1. No longer able to exploit the refugees they gave asylum to, the refugees they fought side by side and died with—they begin to hunt them down and execute them like rabid dogs. Working Lockdown because he can give them what Prime wouldn’t—weapons of mass destruction. Like…that’s fire. I don’t know what to tell you! While the character of Sam is missed, and it makes no sense for him not to be here or be mentioned, Wahlberg does a good job stepping into the lead role. Is he essentially playing an older version of Sam with a different backstory? Maybe so. But it’s fine. It works. By god Cade is a middle class man from Paris, Texas and he will fight for his rights and freedom I tell you what. Jack Reynor unfortunately imprinted on me when I first saw the film and I’ve found him charming ever since. Though his character is so obnoxious here. It’s no coincidence that the film becomes more interesting when both he and Cade’s daughter are off screen. Optimus leading a group of outlaw Transformers and eventually riding the Dinobots into battle is kino, but I have to say. Bay has been horrible with maintaining consistent Autobot presence throughout the series. There’s no reason that any of the original ones from 07 and Fallen could not be alive and here fighting with Prime, other than poor planning and bad writing. Still pissed Ironhide got taken out in Moon. These new Transformers are annoying but mostly cool, it’s just that the film(s) would be better if we had consistency.

Transformers: Age of Extinction
