Hook
Dynamite kid flick-- Ornate theme-park sets, technicolor food fights, depressed Cap'n Hook, ethereal 90's glow, what more did the critics need?

Listen, in all honesty this should be a 4 star (or higher) review but it's not and I'm sorry. I've never seen the original Peter Pan, only the live action one from the 2000's (and that was when I was a kid). This one didn't fully resonate with me but that doesn't matter because it's still masterful Great acting, heartfelt moments, fantastic score and beautiful matte paintings - typical Spielberg mastery! Robin Williams and Dustin Hoffman chew up every scene that they're in expertly, as does Julia Roberts (be still my beating heart). I imagine fans of Peter Pan must love this! I liked it a lot (even knowing nothing about Peter Pan) I have technically seen a good bit of this before in a high school theater class of mine, many years ago but I didn't remember anything going in so I'm not counting this as a rewatch

“Oh there you are Peter!” honestly kinda made me tear up?? loved the pirate sets it was actually really good 90s fun. i remember knowing i liked it as a kid but i honestly haven’t seen it since i was probably 6yo, so long ago that i remembered NOTHING about the film. rewatching it in adult eyes it’s insane how many guest actors there was! it looks like they had a lot of fun. also captain hook having a melodramatic suicidal breakdown is a such a mood, i’m surprised it’s not quoted more. i think if i hired it out more than once as a kid it would definitely be a top tier childhood favourite nostalgia film

It’s the same actor, but I’m not sure it’s the same character. Some of the most egregious child acting I’ve ever seen. Wow. That was MIGHTY bad acting at times. I was cracking up throughout this. Hook going full Tim from White Lotus lmao. The second baseball scene was awesome. As a former catcher, nothing but respect for his move when the guy stole 2nd. MARBLES. Because of the nostalgia, I’m giving this a boost. Probably more of a 3 star movie, but this just means something. 7.1
