Fun and heartwarming directorial debut. I love how personal it feels to the creator but I wish I could connect with it on a closer level. But movies are about experiencing something from a point of view separate from your own so I still had an amazing time and would recommend it to basically anyone. Also I would come back just to see Tilda Swinton's performance again.

Wow this movie is so fast pace, i couldn't even follow the pace and then get lost several times. I wish i can understand spanish. What a good movie but the pace is so fast like you're rushing on something. And this is the debut of director Julio Torres (Alejandro)? He's the actor and the director? Wow the multitalent person like in the movie. Alejandro is a hard working and patient person and he meets Elizabeth who's crazy and makes other people dizzy, a combination that fits perfectly. Moreover, they both love art.

I absolutely get why some people might dislike, or even outright hate, this film but it really worked for me. Just mannered and whimsical enough to stay fun and magical, but not become overwhelmingly annoying and twee. Swinton is really great here, easy campaign for an Oscar if she/A24 want it. Problemista marks the feature film debut of Julio Torres, frequent SNL writer, who wears multiple hats as director, writer, and the film’s lead. Despite A24’s best efforts to keep this film from me by limiting its release as humanly as possible, I did finally manage to catch this on a Wednesday afternoon. The heart of Problemista lies solely on its consistently singular and undeniably creative direction. Set against an almost fantastical version of New York, the film manages to dance on the edge of surrealism, as the story is framed like something out of a fairy tale book — narrated by the beautiful Isabella Rossellini, no less. But beneath all that veneer, Problemista is a film about finding our place in life, learning from those around us, and the courage to unfurl our hearts and stand resolute for our convictions. Julio Torres and Tilda Swinton compliment each other so damn well here, it’s a genuine marvel to behold — Tilda is particularly fantastic as the full on “Karen” that is Elizabeth, a forceful, petty art critic (and full-time pain in the ass). One specific detail I love about her character is her inability to understand and utilize technology, which leads to her phone flash being on every single time she pulls it out. Really funny stuff. Problemista is a rare concoction: part whimsy, part wisdom, and wholly unique. It was a ton of fun, and my audience was eating it up — I highly recommend this.

𝘐𝘵’𝘴 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘳 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨.” Perhaps the best film to reckon with the nonsense of the US employment system from an immigrant experience through absurdism. Tilda Swinton is a force and Julio Torres creates a world so inventive and playful that he makes the world seem a bit more bearable. An absolute wonder in its singularity. also omg Julio and his lil gay walk luv uuu uwu
