At first frustrated, my patience disturbed me as I realized the male gaze, in all of the ways it darts and moves, made me feel so uncomfortable. Dead fish. Trash in the streets. All the grit and grime. Though much is to blame on the patriarchy, still now, I can't imagine what it must've been like for a woman then. Even all the bar talk, the mumbling. Peeping Tomish. Everything moment felt like a dirty little secret where my business doesn't have to be your business but here we are.
