Duel
Man, I really wanted to see who the truck driver was and why he was doing all this. But ig that’s the special thing about the movie — it never tells you and lets you think. The truck feels less like a vehicle and more like a monster — faceless, relentless, and terrifying. No big backstory, no explanations, just raw survival. Almost 90% of the movie is just chasing, and surprisingly, it never gets boring. How do you show a chase for so long and still keep it engaging? Spielberg does it beautifully. He’s always had the ability to create tension with minimal dialogue. Some of the sequences are genuinely terrifying (I hate that truck horn). Ngl, I’m lowkey scared for my life whenever I see a truck or hear that horn now 😭
Duel
what the hell, sure
Duel
Man has one battle after another against the Jaws of the L.A. highways
Duel
Spielberg's made for TV and early directorial effort Duel is what you call a highly intense nailbiter. Dennis Weaver's remarkable performance and the tight cinematography overrule the lagging and clear cut nature of the story, amplifying the entire movie as a strikingly enjoyable thriller.
Duel
DUELis a slasher movie on wheels. The tanker makes for a thrilling, primal pursuer. It’s shot in such a way that at times it feels more animal than machine. Makes complete sense why Jaws had to come next for Steven.
Duel
Duel
He couldn’t just speed up? Yikes, think twice before passing someone from now one. You never know who you might offend lmao. Very cool shot in the beginning (think you’ll know it when you see it). One of the saddest sandwiches I’ve seen; best believe I’d NOT be eating that. Guessing this gave some inspiration for Death Proof as well as Unhinged (I don’t think you know what a bad day is). This was a bit repetitive so glad it was on the shorter side. Still, I enjoyed it and thought it was good. 7.2
Duel
Steven Spielberg really said "Imma make a chase scene thats both the slowest and the coolest shit you've ever seen
Duel
