Diary entries forSpeak No Evil
Speak No Evil
It was uncomfortable to watch. The pacing was slow, and it just felt off. I also got annoyed with the victims—they didn’t fight back at all. I don’t want to blame them, but the main characters bugged me more than the antagonists did. It genuinely frustrated me.

Speak No Evil
"You know, I'm so tired of smiling all the time" Christian Tafdrup's third feature film but first attempt at horror, he almost knocks it out of the park immediately. I've seen other people compare it to Funny Games but honestly I got a mixed feeling of vibes of both The Invitation and The Strangers inspirations while watching this (the latter mostly in the "Why are you doing this?" "Because you let me" exchange) Sure to infuriate viewers in seek of catharsis or even just fans of the "do the right thing and fucking LEAVE" approach who would be missing the point. How far is one willing to go to be polite? How much red flags do we ignore, how little do we trust our gut, in our own lives (it doesn't even have to be in a political sense of the "lesser evil" so many fell for years ago, how much bad personal relationships have we let go on longer than they should have) to accommodate others we assume must have the best intentions for us in mind? The final two scenes are powerful without a single word needing to be spoken. Shit, even the music that played didn't provide much relief. Tafdrup's a natural and I'd love to see him contribute more to the genre. Very happy to hear Shudder already acquired distribution
Speak No Evil
This movie makes me want to scratch my body hard and tear my hair until bald, the movie is so-so, but in every way the movie I feel very uncomfortable and at the end I really explode. Luckily I always say no when asked by other people and I'm an introvert, they are very stupid especially just because of that fucking rabbit doll. Am i ready for the remake? I don't think so, i already stressed with this.
Speak No Evil
Speak No Evil
so many people hyped this up as a great movie when its average at best. SPOILERS: when you see your host watching you and your wife have sex through a window and you decide to not tell her and to stay, you deserve what happens to you. also who keeps having sex after hearing their young child call for them, their young child who is staying in a stranger's house! also also who gives a fuck about a stuffed bunny? get her a new later. and then it turned out that the bunny was under the damn car seat. are you fucking kidding me? you couldn't have looked under the seat before going back? and then they got suckered into staying again even though they felt uncomfortable the first time! how stupid can you be. if people made you uncomfortable dont stay with them especially if you have a child with you!!!!! and lets not forget these stranger's they are staying with let their young daughter into their room to sleep even though the husband was naked! doesnt matter that they didnt do anything to her, that should have been enough to never come back! no fucking sympathy for those two they got what they deserved for being fucking stupid. no rating because i cant say i liked it and therefore i dont want to give it a 3, but i cant say its bad either so i cant give it less than a 3. a conundrum.
Speak No Evil
Unfortunately, I saw the remake first and thought it was good, but this one, Damn! It's much better. How impressive that a scene where you can only hear someone brushing their teeth makes me so uncomfortable, the ending is wonderful.
