The Holy Mountain

A brincadeira metalinguística no final é a cereja do bolo nessa viagem psicodélica.

The Holy Mountain

Now, that's how you end a film with a glorious and meaningful broken fourth wall. Jodorowsky is a crazy. A crazy master of visual poetry and one of the greatest filmmakers alive. Undeniably complex and visually and bizarre beautiful, and vice versa. If this is not one of the most definitive films of all time... i don't know what it is. Say no more and watch it. Period.

The Holy Mountain

Filme bizarro, bizarro. Toda a estética e parte técnica são muito boas, e o charme está em como os temas de exploração humana, religião, consumismo e capitalismo são abordados, de um jeito único e absurdo.

The Holy Mountain

I’m still trying to process what the actual fuck I just watched. This shit feels like the director kidnapped nine random lunatics from different rehab centers, handed them LSD and a camera, and said, “Go make the meaning of life.” It’s two hours of naked people, dead animals, gold ,shit, blood, weird ass looking ppl and fake spirituality pretending to be genius. Every frame screams “you just don’t get it” and you know what? You’re right, I don’t, and I’m fine with that. I hated every second of it… that’s probably exactly what he wanted.

The Holy Mountain

— To know… to dare… to want… to keep silent… I have no idea how to put into words the emotions and sensations I felt while watching The Holy Mountain, because every second of this film could be developed into another film. It felt like I was watching humanity unfold before my eyes, with more and more layers of complexity and symbolism revealing the worst sides of human beings. If it were up to me, I would put this film next to the definition of surrealism in the dictionary, as it not only plays with it but deconstructs and reconstructs it as it pleases in practically every scene. I feel it isn't a film, but rather an experiment on art itself, while discussing and criticizing countless aspects of humanity. Hatred, lust, hypocrisy, violence, vanity, ego, death, war, religion, and alchemy are just some themes you can identify, but it's very obvious no one will ever be able to unravel exactly everything this work brings. Its central narrative focuses specifically on the quest for immortality and how it is necessary to leave behind one's ego and humanity itself in order to achieve this state. Challenges and sacrifices, religiously performed, are the minimum expected of each character in order to reach a higher position. If we look closely, it also places a great deal of weight on politics and the organizations governing the world. Personally, the first part, the introduction of the character-planets, and the final scene are the strongest points because they convey messages with a powerful impact on the present day. The ending is absurd because it brings something that no viewer expects when they immerse themselves in the film, but this break from expectation is incredible when the story never even set out to follow any logic or common sense. Still, this type of scene is one of my favourites! In short, it's a dense film, one of those films you can watch every day and never manage to catch all the details. I like it precisely because of its extreme surrealism and its commitment to being provocative and outrageous when necessary. Not to mention all the scenes look like works of art, perfectly crafted to feast our eyes on. One of the best experiences of my life!

The Holy Mountain

Meaningful, most beautiful visuals I have seen, weird, well done, nothing ever will come close to how this movie is made and how pleasing the feeling after watching it.  The mininal dialogue makes the movie relies heavy on the beautiful score.  The first hour and ten minutes really heavy on visuals and thats the best part of the movie.  The intro is soooo satisfying with how symmetrical it is. That goes to the whole movies not only the intro. Recommend to watch it even if one time! If you love artsy surreal movies youll love this.
