Ever get the feeling you're being watched? Maika Monroe discovers the hard way how that feeling may be for good reason. A simple yet effective story leaving me feeling more tense/uncomfortable than I have for over 90 minutes since leaving the theater for Invisible Man 2020 While Watcher feels like the obviously weaker of those two, and of these two if I really had to pick between them, I still adored seeing on back-to-back days, and would probably love a double feature of, this and fellow Sundance entry Speak No Evil as a mini-marathon of the "trust your gut instinct when it tells you something feels Very Wrong/Off" theme. If the last 6-7 years has taught us nothing else about the world we reside in and can't escape from, it's that few people realize they're in a horror film until it's too late. Trust your gut more often If you have Shudder I also recommend seeing V/H/S/94. While being my favorite V/H/S anthology film, it doubles as having a fairly-good (albeit not as well-done or tense as this) segment called Storm Drain from director Chloe Okuno about a rat man spotting in a sewer I was originally going to have only one more film left on the schedule (Piggy this Wednesday) but between very much enjoying my experience so far, and finding out about the screenings of Evan Rachel Wood's documentary and Resurrection (a new thriller with Rebecca Hall and Tim Roth), I couldn't resist wanting to be part of Sundance 2022 for a bit longer than planned. Looking forward to what's next

Lean and gritty. A clean-cut thriller that manages to throw in a few tough punches to the gut that leave lasting marks. Definitely a must see for the year.
