Diary entries forDesperado
Desperado
my brain short circuited
Desperado
Watched a VHS rendering of this on Internet archive on my laptop, just the way Robert Rodriguez intended. Fun action scenes, great music, this was a vibe for sure.
Desperado
Really fun film this is. Steve Buscemi, Quentin Tarantino, Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek 69'ing, explosions and the most bat-shit action scenes you'll ever see. What's not to love? Also worth noting - I was too stupid to realize this was a sequel. It didn't effect my viewing though
Desperado
I don’t think a movie could be more fun than Desperado. I’ve seen it before, but watching it with friends that have never seen it adds half a star. Such an absolute banger flick.
Desperado
Practically bursting with passion, Desperado is an important landmark film in the early 90’s directed by Robert Rodriguez, and one of the main reasons for popularizingAntonio Banderas&Salma Hayek deep into Hollywood. Desperadowears its culture with pride, along with its traditional action story - notably having the entire soundtrack done by the LA rock band Los Lobos, who perform traditional Ranchera and Chicano rock music. This was just a ton of fun to watch and I am glad I finally got around to watching it - I think my issue with the film falls solely on the very last act, it just kind of falls apart for me (especially the choice of fading to white). Regardless, this was just a hell of a movie - sexy people being sexy and blowin’ shit up, looking good doing it too.
Desperado
— You know, it's easier to pull the trigger than play guitar. Easier to destroy than to create. I’ll admit the only reason I watched Desperado is because there’s a chance an artist I’m a huge fan of might reference it on his next album. As a big fan of both his art and films, it made me want to watch it right away to see what might happen. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a good experience because it’s simply not the kind of movie I enjoy, nor does it entertain me for very long. As much as seeing the beautiful Salma Hayek on screen is great, it didn’t hold my interest. As an action movie, it has its merits, mainly because it doesn’t take itself too seriously and manages to deliver something well-made. However, the whole story seemed almost nonexistent to me, and the parts I wanted to understand more were very shallow. Personally, I would have preferred to see more of his relationship with the loss of his ability to play the guitar. You can’t expect much from such a shoddy action movie, anyway. Tarantino’s jump scare doesn’t help either...
