Let's make history.❞ • ───── ✬✥✬ ───── • This was very different to the kind of film Vikram has done before, and it was very welcome. Mahaan was well-paced and never boring; each of the characters meeting at various points in the film was slick and didn't drag. The plot was interesting. It was hard to tell where it would go when we were introduced to Gandhi, but as he met Rocky and his friend the plot became clear and we could tell that Dada would play a big role in opposing Gandhi's alcohol business. Vikram was excellent as usual, but the real surprise was Bobby Simha. His portrayal of Sathyavan was complex and by the end we truly feel sorry for him. Having not seen any of Dhruv Vikram's previous work, I had high expectations considering the calibre of his father's acting, and luckily he didn't disappoint. Dada was almost psychopathic and a formidable antagonist. The cinematography was great; there were some shots that were beautifully done like the scenes from the song Soorayatam. The music was also perfect and every background track fit the scene well. Overall it was a really good watch, different to the usual blockbuster films that come out of Kollywood but well-made.
