A Bay of Blood: A Ranking of Slashers (1974 - 1990) (http://boxd.it/IoH8) #6 of Slasher September (https://boxd.it/1dTfc) A less than intriguing mystery plagues the majority of serial killer slasher Eyes of a Stranger—nearly each moment is accustomed with a standard operation of kills, obscene phone calls, and snooping around suspect's apartments. Borrowing more from the gialli genre than it does with a slasher, the film highlights a killer prowling the night and stalking innocent women, all the while a news reporter investigates, coming closer with each step. Opening considerably strong, this 1981 horror loses its steam and conjures up a rather run-of-the-mill story, despite its occasional cryptic tension. Eyes of a Stranger doesn't do much to separate itself from other slashers of its time, even with its drawn-out and open pace—shedding light on each random victim's death in an act to showcase the deranged mind of its killer, except it isn't all that deranged. A productively underwhelming picture to say the least. 2.2/5
