What if a child dreamed of becoming something other than society had intended? What if a child aspired to be something greater? Not a quote from Gattaca but it was the quote that I was thinking of the entire film. This is a great example of what science fiction should do. Nichols manages to take us into an alternate future and make us question the morals and ethics of that society. Ethan and Jude play their respectively tragic characters very well, the ending scene in particular was very emotional to me. There’s definitely more to be said and analyzed here but I’ll save it for now.

god knows how many times i've watched this film since being first introduced to it back in biology class all those years ago, but this rewatch nearly brought me to tears for some reason. guess my body just knew it was the right time to remind me about the indomitable human spirit that fuels vincent throughout the movie.
