The Passion of Joan of Arc
Silence but make it extremely aggressive.
The Passion of Joan of Arc
Wow
The Passion of Joan of Arc
Without any shadow of doubt one of the greatest and most iconic films ever made. The acting and music are literally some of the best ever. Going into this I was a little sceptical, as I didn’t think Dreyers 1932 ‘Vampyr’ was as good as I hoped it was going to be, but this absolutely blows that out of the water. A timeless film which everyone should watch.
The Passion of Joan of Arc
This is widely considered a masterpiece within the world of cinema, but I don't see it. When I look at reviews for this film, most of them seem to highlight the frequent usage of close ups. While I do agree that the cinematography is bold and attention-grabbing, it simultaneously feels quite repetitive. This same critique can be given to the film's main actress, Maria Falconetti, where she illustrates a great suffering and hopelessness, but it gets old after 30 minutes. I can understand the praise for this film, but only to an extent.
The Passion of Joan of Arc
Anytime someone's baffled as to the relevance of buying physical media in this day and age, point them to the Criterion Collection immediately. For my money there's nothing else on earth like being able to watch Passion of Joan of Arc accompanied with Richard Einhorn's inspired Voices of Light score. Falconetti's titular performance is absolutely stunning, and it was no exaggeration when the friend that recommended this told me it would be among the best I've ever seen in film. However you're able to see this, and whether it's silent or with an accompanying score, just please please please make sure you see it.
The Passion of Joan of Arc
The Passion of Joan of Arc is an incredibly intense experience. Carl Theodor Dreyer focuses almost exclusively on Joan of Arc's final hours, dispensing with everything superfluous – sets, battles, large action scenes. Instead, faces, emotions, and inner conflicts take center stage. Maria Falconetti's performance is simply breathtaking; every movement, every glance draws you into the psychological pressure Joan is under.

The Passion of Joan of Arc
The Passion of Joan of Arc
Bu film benim için çok ayrı bir film ya. Hele o müzikler ✋ABSOLUTE CINEMA🤚
The Passion of Joan of Arc
i don’t watch a lot of silent films for whatever reason. I will admit but this is definitely one of the best ones. the story is one a lot of people are familiar with of course, but it’s told very well and the girl who plays the titular character sells the emotions very well with her facial expressions alone, a feat considering the lack of dialogue. also unrelated to the actual quality of the film itself but one of the reasons i dislike streaming is how a film like this (with the lack of dialogue) is occasionally interrupted by ads. it Sucks and messes up the flow a bit, but the movie itself was good so I’m judging it on those merits.
