Women Talking
❝We're women without a voice. We have nothing to return to. Even the animals are safer in their homes than we women are. All we have are our dreams. So of course we are dreamers.❞ · · ────── •⊰✧⊱• ────── · · Before watching Women Talking, I had a look at some of the reviews. And after I finished the film, I revisited the reviews, and I wanted to cry; there were so many trivialising the content and focusing on the colour grading instead. To that I say, sexual assault is ugly. There's no way around it, and the film reflects that ugliness. It doesn't have to be beautiful to be taken seriously. And while a film centered around conversations in a barn may sound boring, it was far from it. The women of the colony broached ideas that, unfortunately, are still being discussed today – to see the women gain their autonomy and realise the true danger they were in was simultaneously awe-inspiring and depressing, because although they were able to realise their worth, it came at a very twisted cost. I thought every single actor in the cast was excellent at portraying their respective characters, and I won't lie, I sobbed quite a bit throughout the film. I did a bit of research into the real-life case, and it sickened me. No-one should have to go through what those women and girls suffered, and what really twisted the knife further was this sentence: 'The youngest victim was three years old, the oldest was 65.' What kind of deranged sickos would do something like this? I hope to the bottom of my heart that the perpetrators rot in hell, and that the women are safe and getting to live their lives properly.
Women Talking
i had put this one off only due to the fact i don’t particularly like period pieces. shocked to find out this was 2010 but whatever. this is a heavy film. a very strong emotional pull on the audience. possibly one of the most emotional films nominated at the oscar’s this year. i’m thinking that the pg-13 rating was a little generous. while there is so sexual scenes, the topic of sexual abuse is the main issue at hand and is described in detail. i also thought that claire foy was going to be standout but i was happy when all of the women gave equally powerful performances. this has potential but i don’t believe it will best picture.

I’m surprised Polley has been nominated for Screenplay, as it was surprisingly my least favorite part of the film. Incredible performances overcoming the very stage-y dialogue, paired with beautiful direction. A sad and depressing, yet still surprisingly hopeful film. I appreciated the ways in which Polley expanded the story, and gave us more than just a barn loft of women talking. 2022 Ranked (https://boxd.it/fSyMM)
Women Talking
“Perhaps forgiveness can, in some instances, be confused with permission.” Well, I enjoyedWOMEN TALKINGmuch more than I thought I would. It’s not dull, or boring like so many have said, and in fact I found it to be quite the opposite—I was engaged with rapt attention for a majority of the film. Of course, this is partially due to the quiet but powerful performances scattered throughout. Mara, Foy, Buckley, Whishaw and Ivey’s acting deeply moved me. However, the conversation the women have is what kept me engaged. For the majority of the film, the women go back and forth trying to decide what they should do following the revelation of the systematic abuse they’ve had to endure has been brought to light. Conversation flows naturally between them. It is philosophically rich and you can sense that every word spoken comes from a well of entangled feelings deep within the characters. Righteous anger, sadness, fear, shame, regret. Every character is fleshed out—their perspective unique, and it was so emotionally rewarding to listen to them speak and navigate an uncertain future not only for themselves, but for their children as well. Hildur’s score is incredible here, it must be noted. Once more, her haunting strings and the use of folk instruments keep bouncing around in my head. If she wins best score again, I cannot say it’s undeserved. One thing I didn’t really enjoy about Women Talking was the cinematography. The extreme desaturation was an odd choice, and does the cast and location no favors, bordering on dull and monotonous a lot of the time. Likely, this is intentional, but unfortunately that doesn’t make it not ugly. Glad I got to catch this in theaters, I honestly don’t know if I would have been able to lend it my full attention otherwise.
Women Talking
No hay película más poderosa que una con un guionazo y grandes actuaciones. Me sorprendió mucho la manera en que la lucha de estás mujeres se lleva, no es algo fácil de decidir y vemos todo lo que para ella está en riesgo.

"We're women without a voice. We have nothing to return to. Even the animals are safer in their homes than we women are. All we have are our dreams". Finally, my 2022 officially ends! Coz I logged Women Talking, yeah. I'm 100% ready for Oscars season. I bet patriarchists gonna hate this movie so bad.
Women Talking

Just shoot it in black and white at this point
