Jerrod Carmichael is an impressive talent; if that wasn't clear by Rothaniel, let it be now
On the Count of Three
I liked this, could’ve been a short film though. Anddd I was hoping for both men to pull through and finish the job, but I guess people have things to live for.
On the Count of Three
Carmichael and Abbott both bring a lot to the film, which is great because some of the turns the film takes a pretty trite and undercooked. Carmichael also proves himself rather capable behind the camera as well. 2022 Ranked (https://boxd.it/fSyMM)
On the Count of Three
There was a moment at the very end where my friend reached over to pull my chin up to the rest of my mouth. It sucks the feel-good out of suicide comedies and shoots you point blank with a stark reality that wobbles a sense of your understanding of what a dark comedy could be, heavily humoured and downright depressing. Gut churned, absolute joy. There's a moment where they ride their motorbikes in slowmotion to instrumentals, and for a moment, in their own peace, everything felt all right with the world, however brief. ***As a directional debut, it's fine for content and running time. I think the writing could've been a bit sharper and some cuts just felt like they were stripped straight out of an undergrad film class. These are all minor though for such a compelling narrative.
