Sidewalls
If I never get the chance to love you, can I love beside you? In proximity. It doesn't even have to shoulder-close. It can be in the subway seat across from you. Or from the other train, the window. Or from my nightlight phone screen in bed. Or from Instagram on PC. Or from an elsewhere that I've created that feels so close to home, but you are home that feels closer than the elsewhere I am in now? Through whimsy, melancholy, and a heart that sways charms reminiscent of Mike Mills and Wes Anderson, along with references to Jacques Tati and Woody Allen, the film comes from a deeply honest place. A lonely place. A place that keeps us up in the waking hours of the night hoping that our body pillows become the very lover who exists between want and need. *Hajin, I love you so much for this one <3
