The Smashing Machine
can’t wait to see the words “academy award nominee dwayne johnson” in the trailer for jumanji 4

Satisfying visuals, and at times conceptually, Emily Blunt my goat
The Smashing Machine
The smashing machine might be the most disappointing film of the year. Every year or so we get a film of this genre, the last showgirl and the iron craw come to mind. Both of those films are far better and achieve more than this does. This is honestly just boring. It doesn’t really tell the audience anything interesting, at the start of the film he’s a washed up has been and by the end he still is. Absolutely pointless casting Usyk in this as he’s literally just there to say ‘hey that’s Usyk’. Just feels like wasted potential and I can’t believe how many people seem to love this on here. It’s not a bad film, but compared to others of the same brush it feels unoriginal and dull.
The Smashing Machine
The Smashing Machine
A little all over the place thematically could’ve benefitted from more direction. Attempted showcase of Dwayne’s acting and that’s about it, and he does a good enough job. Better than his other roles at least Wanna see more from this safdie
The Smashing Machine
c'est vraiment mou, pas particulièrement engageant et franchement en terme de performance d'acteur c'est bien mais pas la "claque Dwayne Johnson" que j'attendais (c'est quand meme son meilleur rôle on va pas se mentir). Franchement déçu
The Smashing Machine
bem sem sal.
The Smashing Machine
I do not think it is a bad movie but I do believe it has notable flaws that affect its emotional impact. The main one, and the one I consider the most problematic, is the lack of a well defined climax. There is a point where the central conflict of the character is clearly emphasized but its treatment feels superficial, it could even seem that it is resolved almost immediately. This leaves the second half of the movie without a solid foundation to convincingly explore the protagonist’s progress or improvement. The narrative structure also felt generic to me and at times too simple. Although the pacing and duration did not bother me, I feel that those two hours could have been used much better to deepen themes that are barely touched on and that could have elevated the story. Regarding the performances, I think Dwayne Johnson’s work is probably the best of his career and even so I feel he falls short in certain moments. He did more than I expected, that is true, and his dynamic with Emily Blunt helps a lot to enhance his performance. However, even though at times I did perceive something of Mark Kerr in his acting, there are scenes where I felt a lack of personality, I even got the strange sensation that the character himself was “acting”. What I did like quite a lot was the use of the camera. The way the different shots are handled, especially during the fights, gives the movie a raw and visually very appealing tone.

The Smashing Machine
