Shaun of the Dead

i honestly expected more from this cause it was such a beloved film although i think it would be better on a rewatch. they ate with that scene of them beating that zombie in the beat of don’t stop me now though.

Shaun of the Dead

Funnier than I remember it, SOTD is a great time from start to finish. Clever writing and likeable characters are helped by a script which doesn’t take itself seriously at all. Just a fun time all round.

Shaun of the Dead

"Shaun of the Dead", directed by Edgar Wright in his sophomore effort, is an incredible movie that I personally really love. I first saw it a few years ago (maybe over half a decade ago at this point if I'm being totally honest) and I got to re-watch it this time in a theater for the 20th anniversary re-release with my best friend and his girlfriend. Yes, that did make the movie hit way too close to home. And no Alec, I am not like Nick Frost! Moving on, this film has been praised to death already, so there's nothing new I can really say. It's a perfect love letter to George Romero's "Of the Dead" films, which I hadn't initially seen the first time I saw this movie. The similarities now are very evident (that isn't a bad thing, by the way!). This film is pretty funny, but I truly forgot how heartfelt and even heart-wrenching the climax is. Simon Pegg is brilliant in this as the titular "Shaun" and he even made me cry more than once, the British bastard! Also, there's a shot here that is ripped straight from Sam Raimi's "Evil Dead" (the rifle POV) that made me so embarrassingly happy to see. Anyway, yeah, great movie!

Shaun of the Dead
