The Double

this is both brutal and atmospheric, like a fever dream and your enemy is yourself.

The Double

Unseeing the fact that it's surely an inspired tale of Terry Gilliam's, Brazil (with a dash of steampunk) - Richard Ayoade's, The Double, is at intervals bloated and ponderous with little eye candy and attention, but with patience, very inviting and momentous. It grows with interest thanks to the catching touch of Jeese Eisenberg, more noticeably as 'The Double'. That's when things pick up. Wacky or whatever, it's both peculiar and tantalizing. Eisenberg is a real stirrer within his two roles. Mia Wasikoska brings half the juice, yet it's not her fault. It lies within her semi-tiring character. The film keeps an engrossing pace though, despite problems with a demanding stature. Yeah, The Double nearly face-slaps beneath alluring gestures. GRADE:B+

The Double

Someone should tell Richard Ayoade that Twins (1988) already exists
