Happyend

Friendship, rebellion, music, technology, social, politics and demonstrations, all come together beautifully in this movie. Japan truly lives in the future. I can't comment a lot about this because i'm too amazed watching it.

when people get radicalised in their own way; union is how to solve the problems; bitter sweet departure in life makes life more interesting; politics is always in our life; nihilism eventually create sociopolitical awareness

indeed, there's much more than "date" and "girlfriend". set when printing papers are considered ridiculous, but at the same time technologies are mostly shown as a tool of oppression. it's a good analogy to tell that the events are real happening in real world not only happening online. thank you for this hard reminder.

Pas du tout convaincu par cette bande de lycéens. Trop de sujets effleurés (politique, immigration, séismes, musique), et la question de la surveillance/IA « dans un futur proche » est complètement ratée (déjà en place dans certains pays).

APRIL MOVIES 2025 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZqgZMSjOnI) KOU: 𝘈𝘭𝘭 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯 𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘺 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦. KOU'S MOTHER: 𝘐𝘵’𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘺. 𝘕𝘰𝘵 𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘭. 𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘯𝘰𝘸. 𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘺 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘧𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦. A Bildungsroman against the tyranny of power from the drives of minority perspectives. Against the backdrop of a near-future Tokyo with Orweillian strictness, who is surveillance for? What does it achieve? For whose safety? What is safe? Sora’s directional style reminds me a lot of Hashiguchi's (https://letterboxd.com/director/ryosuke-hashiguchi/) in which he allows his characters to come into themselves with establishing shots and frames that contain enough negative space to create focus for the range of adolescent feelings exorcized through the film. These are political feelings. Heated feelings. Full of heart. Hurt. Full of an aim to make a world not just better for a world they live in, but one for themselves. In Yukito Hidaka’s debut role, he has a great sense of control and posture in how he defines his character. Whether if it is his political self or his loving self or himself as a friend, seeing these different shades, in face card, in slouch, in mere eyework, he remains adolescent in his feverish attempts at trying to find a way out, a way to defend, a way to stand up. Here’s a film that allows kids to really look at the world with a critical lens, judging a fascist state by its cracks, seeing the future as a downfall, but remaining hopeful. Because a fight is a fight, good or bad, and things are worth fighting for. Solemn. Frenetic. Hopeful. One of my favorites of the year. “𝘈𝘭𝘭 𝘸𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘢𝘴𝘬 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨.”

Emang gak ada instansi under pemerintah yang bisa dipercaya dan benar-benar berpihak ke rakyat. Semuanya cuma akan tunduk dan melayani mereka-mereka yang berkuasa. Pantek. Fuck them all!
