was this supposed to be...good? works like a didion political thriller without any of the good writing. serra creates a swirl of paranoia and distrust on french polynesian tahiti with lush sunset shots that can't save the film for its lack of aim and intrigue. a 3 hr slog that works better as a mood piece, but if the mood is wow white man on stolen land ok great go right ahead and enjoy ur vacation. at first, i was hoping to claim this as a better version of 𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘴𝘢𝘥𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴, but the triangle wins over this boring circle.
