Reality:★★★½ Review: A Story of Empathy At first glance, the plot seems strange: Lars, a very lonely young man, begins a relationship with a life-size doll named Bianca. However, what starts as something curious soon becomes a profound story about mental health and the support of others. He makes a character who could have been odd or funny feel real, tender, and worthy of respect. The most valuable aspect of the film is seeing how his family and neighbors, instead of judging him, decide to treat Bianca like a real person to help Lars in his healing process. Although it has funny moments, it is primarily a drama that addresses loneliness, grief, and how we need to feel supported to overcome our fears.
