formula Ultramannya ga kaya biasanya. biasanya kek cerita cerita shounen gitu Ultraman datang melindungi > kaijunya lebih op >ultraman bensin habis > somehow tenaga datang darimana jadi op > menang > repeat. shoutout buat Hideaki Anno, pengalaman ga boong emg, salute. yang ini ga banyak fighting scene, lebih condong ke arah kepentingan politik antara kaum ultraman (idk how to say it fuck it) sama manusia. kayaknya the whole budget film ini dipake pas 50 menit terakhir. bnr bnr bagus, ada bumbu komedi tapi agak ga masuk sih sama gw, but ok. (Asami, can I smash that butt too?)

This movie fucking rips. Here’s a hot take though, this one is better dubbed in English, it feels like it fits the tone more. I want more of these ASAP, and would love to see Shin Ultraman take on Shin Godzilla. 2023 Ranked (https://boxd.it/kiMdu)

Loved this. What an awesome fun time! The balls out insanity of the direction takes a lot of the similar notes about governmental and bureaucratic ineptitude that were present in SHIN GODZILLA, but turns even the simple act of pressing Pause on a TV remote into spectacle. Loved the kaiju in this, but really wish we got more of them, and wish we could’ve seen more of Ultraman’s “battle” with Zetton. Bring on SHIN KAMEN RIDER!!! 2023 Ranked (https://boxd.it/kiMdu)
Shin Ultraman
Despair weakens the spirit. It feels better to have hope. Pretty fun, pretty decent. Made me want to go rewatch some of the original Ultraman show. Shin Ultraman sticks to the spirit of the OG while also updating it nicely. I find it fascinating how these ‘Shin’ movies are looking at the government response to the Kaiju almost as much/more than they are the Kaiju themselves. Definitely works better here than it did in Godzilla. Looking forward to Anno’s Shin Kamen Rider though! Also, Hidetoshi Nishijima please just give me a chance. One chance please please please please.
