❝There are 3 kinds of people; the ones above, the ones below, and the ones who fall.❞ ۫ ׅ ⊹₊˚‧ ︵‿ ₊ ୨ ᰔ ୧ ₊ ‿︵ ‧˚₊⊹ ׅ ۫ The Platform has been in my Netflix list ever since it was first released, so today I decided it was time to put it out of its misery and give it a watch. The concepts of the vertical prison and food distribution are what drew me to the film, and they were executed pretty well, showcasing that humans will do whatever it takes to ensure their own survival, and for the most part that includes some pretty horrific stuff. Reason and rational thinking go flying straight out of the window; it’s easy to imagine yourself in situations like these and think you’ll be the exception, the only one who doesn’t have to do anything depraved, but that’s what the main character, Goreng, thought too, and look how well that turned out. I will say that the film lost a lot of steam during the last twenty minutes or so, and to be honest I wasn’t a big fan of some of the acting, but the visuals and score were really good, and I was satisfied with the ending. Would I watch this again? I’m not sure, especially since a lot of the crucial tension regarding who lives/dies won’t be there on rewatch. I believe the second film is a prequel, so maybe I’ll give that a go instead.
