Yeah, pretty awful as everyone’s saying. Doesn’t really focus on Michael Myers, more on his new apprentice Corey. Corey is one of the least likeable and most annoying characters in cinema, which is really saying a lot. The guy who plays him is a terrible actor and this feels so poorly written. Why would this attractive girl ever fall for this absolute freak is beyond me and doesn’t even feel natural in the film. It’s longer than it should be and ends ridiculously. Still, I’ll probably watch the next one which is bound to come out in a couple years.

Um ano se passou desde a noite de Halloween onde Michael voltou a Hadonfield e trouxe o medo a cidade. Vários moradores abraçaram a revolta de Laurie e estavam dispostos a por fim a aura de terror e medo que assombra a todos, atitude essa que fez com várias pessoas viessem a morrer por imprudência, inclusive a filha de Laurie. Agora a sobrevivente e a neta tentam viver uma vida calma e simples, mas a presença de uma nova pessoa, Colin, desperta sentimentos de magoa, medo e desconfiança nas duas e na cidade por conta de um passado trágico que persegue Colin. Sendo uma sequência espaçada de um ano de seu antecessor (Halloween Kills), esse filme vende uma história de superação e uma narração em off que tem o papel de te situar em um cenário pré-pronto e que possa contar sua história de forma natural... Porém se tem uma coisa que esse filme não é, isso é naturalidade. Primeiro que ele possui um prólogo que mostra um personagem inédito e que não tem conexão direta com a trama e que o filme faz questão de torná-lo foco do filme em boa parte do começo, não satisfeito com isso o filme utiliza de várias narrações em off pra explicar momentos e a todo momento lembrar que a Laurie está tentando superar seu trauma, mas isso parece impossível. Não satisfeito com isso o Longa ainda entra num arco totalmente aleatório desenvolvendo um romance de Allyson (Andi Matichak) com Corey (Rohan Campbell) que é como se fosse um flerte dizendo que a família Stroodes tivesse a habilidade de atrair psicopatas, sem falar do ar de jovens rebeldes revoltados que sinceramente... É muito do brega e chato. Se Halloween Kills escanteiou Laurie (Jamie Lee Curtis) por questões de estar ferida pelos eventos do primeiro filme, o que faz sentido e você até aceita, esse filme pega todo o potencial da personagem e o carisma de sua interprete e segura para o momento final o que de fato é a única parte realmente boa, mostrando que o final desse filme é o que deveria ter sido o final de Kills, mas acharam mais esperto fazer uma sequência inteeeeeeeeeeeeira que não tem nada, não diz nada e sinceramente... Que final mais... Brochante, não tem outra palavra. No mais, Halloween Ends é um final amargo (da pior forma possível), com atuações extremamente desperdiçadas, com personagens que estão fazendo hora extra e que apenas os seus últimos 20 minutos são de fato algo bom... O que não justifica a jornada de mais de uma hora. E Deus queira que essa franquia esteja finalizada, por hora, até que resolvam voltar com uma boa ideia de verdade. Um desperdício de personagens e premissas.

Marginally better than the last one, but just the fact of us being here having to mop up all this bullshit is its own affront. It's also so desperately self-serious, ack! Grand statements about "dark paths" and such. (The moment we get back to Corey, we looked at each other and pretty much went "Oh no, are they really doing this?") Literalizes so much. Sewer wrastlin' with your own latent bogeyman... all ya needs is a little kick in the shitter and suddenly it's enrollment in an all-expenses paid mentorship program with Senior Serial Killer staff. Michael pins a victim to a painting, feels akin to when a dude gets stabbed with The Art of War in Die Another Day. I'm glad to get yet another tangent for legacy Laurie, and a restorative healing one at that, but it does feel like a stretch to go from decades long paranoid prepper to someone who can't even remember an oven timer. All over it's a very conspicuous handling of the burdensome weight of a 45-year franchise. The kills are fun, but that's just par for the course.

Halloween ends, more like corey begins.... and ends! SPOILERS - SPOILERS - SPOILERS honestly what were the writers thinking? this is the final Halloween film and they decided instead of being a final laurie and michael showdown it should be about some random guy named corey who accidentally killed a kid. and of course corey and allyson's doomed romance. like the thing is if this were an original horror film it would have been good, but as the final movie in the new halloween series its was juts a bad idea all around. they knew we were coming to this movie for michael and laurie. how did it come to this? overall if this was the plot for an original movie, guy accidentally kills someone, the town mistreats him, abusive mother, meets girl who also has trauma, he then get kidnapped by a serial killer and start having serial killing urges himself while hiding it from the girl.... that would have been a great original horror film, i'd give it an 8 out of 10 probably. but it being a Halloween film at most i can only give it 4 out of 10.... also the movie randomly became friday the 13th: a new beginning for a sort period of time. that being said i did like the michael vs laurie showdown even though it could've been so much more and i liked the town's procession to get rid of michael once and for all. dumping his body in the car crusher, that was great. those scenes personally get a 10/10 from me. i think if people can one day separate this from being a halloween movie, idk how but, then they'd enjoy it better.
