really love how they referenced singing in the rain in the whole movie, got a little too excited when i realized that. the first hour and a half was so incredible, it was so fun and engaging but by the next half, they kind of lost me. there’s just too much jack conrad and too little lady fay. STOP CASTING BRAD PITT

Great cast and some great moments don’t make up for the abundance of scenes which I didn’t really feel much for. A lot of people saying this will age well, which it may do, but for the first time viewing I didn’t love this. Feel it almost tried to do too much and should’ve focused on one less character. The ending was also pretty strange. Overall I didn’t hate it but I definitely didn’t love it.

É nítido como Babilônia parece se nutrir do mesmo saudosismo reacionário presente em La La Land, filme que consagrou Chazelle em Hollywood, mas existe algo a mais nessa fórmula. Aqui, o diretor permite a si mesmo soltar-se das amarras academicistas dos seus trabalhos anteriores e se afundar mais na aceleração grosseira, cascorrenta e desinibida do que filma. Ele abandona o discurso de resistência elitizado do longa de 2016 e mergulha de cabeça em um ideal anárquico de movimento cênico revigorante. Toda a sequência que dá o pontapé inicial na narrativa é fundamental em como exibe a pulsão por um frenesi da mise-en-scène que se complementa com essa câmera agitada, acelerando ainda mais aquele processo de depravação tão hipnotizante e indo da dramaturgia vociferada ao humor escatológico com vivacidade e gosto. Por um período considerável de tempo, esqueci que assistia a um filme do Chazelle. Mas, logo depois, o formalismo acadêmico se apossa do registro e ele começa mais e mais a caminhar por uma higienização de imagem que fragiliza aquela sinergia maluca da primeira hora de filme. No mais, um bom respiro criativo que indica um horizonte mais atrativo para o cinema do cineasta do que suas produções anteriores sugeriam.

THIS IS WHAT CINEMA LOOKS LIKE! I'm predict the wrong ending, the ending is so tragic 😔 so much pressure if you work in entertainment industry, this movie tells all about it from different POV and also the cinema history itself. Gosh i love this movie so much, IT'S 3 HOUR WORTHLY MOVIE Anyway the party was fire and chaotic, where's my invitation?
